  Re: Performance enhanced 4-4disc.dat

(...) Most programs that use DAT files as the sources file for a rendered image break all the quads into triangles anyway. Technically, this change would slow down the conversion process (though you would need a *lot* of studs) -Orion (22 years ago, 14-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: Performance enhanced 4-4disc.dat

(...) The motivation is that 4-4disc is used by "stud" primitive. So I expect a small speed improvement (still to be demonstrated). Damien (22 years ago, 13-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: Performance enhanced 4-4disc.dat

(...) I like the 16 triangles better. It makes it easier to split the primitive into sections if I need to. (22 years ago, 13-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

SW Ep.I - Gungans Patrol Shield

Hi all, I've made the Gungans Patrol Shield from set 7115. See Parts-Tracker: (URL) Bernd (22 years ago, 13-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Alternate version for part 2538 (Boat Mast)

Steve, I believe this is a 'functional variation'. The tabs are used to correctly orient this part on the base when you make a short mast. Here's a pic: (...) (22 years ago, 13-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Alternate version for part 2538 (Boat Mast)

(...) The differences can been seen here (URL) parts are clearly marked 2538 between the 2nd and 3rd 'pillars' in the 'brick like' moulding at the base. The only other visible difference is that the one with the lugs is marked "2 03" and the one (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Alternate version for part 2538 (Boat Mast)

(...) I wasn't aware of the variation, could you be a little more specific about the differences between the elements? It's probably not *necessary* to make the variation, but it's certainly allowable. Generally, we aim to model 'functional (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: x983, Minifig Hand Improved (Final)  [DAT]

I don't know if this is more or less clear, but it makes sense to me: 0 0 At normal rotation, hand grips the cylinder defined by: 0 Origin along line <0 4.502 -8.518> <0 -7.116 -11.522> 0 Rotation matrix: -4 0 0 0 -11.6178 1.0015 0 -3.0046 -3.8726 0 (...)   Alternate version for part 2538 (Boat Mast)

Hi all, I've been informed that there is an alternate (earlier, it seems) version of the boat mast that I made (see (URL) This difference is the two little "lugs" at the sides near the bottom of the piece. My question is, is this enough of a (...) (22 years ago, 12-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: x983, Minifig Hand Improved (Final)  [DAT]

Whoops, I made some errors in my calculations and an also misinterpeted Steve's post. (...) Yeah, I realized that later on this morning. :-/ I must've had a brain cramp last night. Thanks, Franklin (22 years ago, 11-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: x983, Minifig Hand Improved (Final)

(...) Nice job! I have two requests: 1. Rotate the hand 90 degrees around Y, so the wrist lies along the Z+ axis. 2. Add a comment line, showing an example of how to position the hand so the 'fingers' are centered on the Y axis, with the top of the (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Minifig Hand Improved

(...) From the looks of it, it seems that the only thing you would need to do is re orient the file, everything else is accurate (22 years ago, 11-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Minifig Hand Improved

Orion, I'd posted a version of the minifig "hook"-hand ("(URL) corresponds to the "regular" (i.e., old) minifig hand. If you're interested in doing an "improved" version of the hook-hand, to match up with this new file of yours, please feel free to (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  does this pattern exist?

I need your help. :-( I encoded a bunch of LCAD files for various minifig faces, and it may be that I (accidentally) encoded an extra one, for a face pattern that doesn't really exist. (Oops...) It's this file: "Minifig Head with Messy Hair, (...) (22 years ago, 11-Jul-02, to lugnet.build.minifigs, lugnet.pirates, lugnet.general, lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

x983, Minifig Hand Improved (Final)  [DAT]

Well, I decided to go for the gusto and finish this off. There are 2 major differences from from the old hand: 1.) The Hand itself is tilted 14.5 degrees 2.) I changed the orientation to the center of the base of the cuff. This allows for ease of (...) (22 years ago, 10-Jul-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
