(...) Inlining is replacing a reference to a subfile with the code from that file. So if I had a part file, which had the line: 1 1 10 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 stud.dat and I "inlined" the stud.dat, my one line would be replaced with: 1 1 10 0 0 6 0 0 (...) I know there's some writeup about dithered colors, but I believe Damien is thinking of the 'extended colors', the color codes between 17 and 26 (excluding 24) that are defined in the LDraw.org color reference. (...) Why not 8 subparts? There are 8 symmetric sections in this part. If you're going to use subfiles to reduce the overall datasize, go all the way. :) Unfortunately, cutting out a 1/8 slice of the part might force some unnatural cuts. If this is (...) (...) Right, but what I want to say is that if the filesize is to big the file needs a lot of time to render. When this is splitted into subfiles the renderer only needs to read smaller subfile. This saves rendertime. Bernd (23 years ago, 22-Mar-02, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)
