Re: Part number needed & New primitive submission

(...) You're right about that, but if you look at the primitives not all are based on a 2x2x2 cube, some are based on a 2x1x2 cube, or a 1x1x2 cube(maybe). Not to mention some have top and side faces, missing lines on two sides, ect. To use them (...) (25 years ago, 30-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Part number needed & New primitive submission

(...) You are right about the rotation point. It should lie on a major axis, to simplify rotating. However, I believe most window panes have been created in their 'default' orientation, not laying on their side. If you rotate this part 90-degrees (...)   Re: Part number needed & New primitive submission

(...) I realize that primitives which are sized to 1LDU are easier to use, but a set of primitives which don't all use the same sizing are *harder* to use overall, because the author has to remember which sizing to use for which primitives. (...) But this piece is more akin to 3855 1x4x3 Window Glass than 3854 1x2x3 Window Pane. This piece and 3855 are akin in that, while they can be rotated, it is *much* less common than sitting vertical in the frame. Your piece, in its current form, (...) (...) I appreciate that, thanks. (...) _I_ do that diligently. It's LDraw that changes it. Unless you mean 0.5 should be written as 0.50 to conform more with 0.25. (...) I think the box should conform to the same geometry as the other box* primitives -- it should range from -1 to +1, not -.5 to +.5. Steve (25 years ago, 28-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives, lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Part number needed & New primitive submission

A few things I noticed/suggestions: 1. The way you use box4nl, you are drawing a bunch of quads which will never be seen. Drop the end-quads from box4nl. 2. On the outside frame, butted-construction is not the best way to put graphics primitives (...) (25 years ago, 28-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives, lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: 4150p?? 4th try

It looks good. I would recommend two things. This is general advice, not something that must be changed on this part (although it would improve the pattern further): 1. Never seen the part in question, but it looks ok. The new primitive seems ok, too. Very unusual that it starts from the center and goes from -0.5 to 0.5 in all directions.
