Let it be known that membership on the LDraw Standard committe is now open. All those who wish to apply reply. So far we have 3 applicants: Orion Pobursky Kevin Clague Larry Pieniazek and one possible applicant Steve Bliss We're basically looking (...) (21 years ago, 17-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: A call to membership! —Tim Courtney
Hi Orion - (Note, I am NOT volunteering for the Standards committee) 1) Thanks for posting this. It's a good thing to have a fresh post for a show of hands. 2) Notice that Steve Bliss has been absent in this whole thread. I think we should wait to (...)         Re: A call to membership! —Ross Crawford
(...) Well I think I can contribute something to this, and would love to see the LDraw tools become more standard & widely used, so I hereby volunteer 8?) ROSCO (21 years ago, 17-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: A call to membership! —Damien Guichard
(...) Hi Orion, I have many ideas to contribute but unfortunately only in a "no compatibility" scenario. So I guess I should better not apply and stay quiet. Damien (21 years ago, 17-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: A call to membership! —Paul Gyugyi
I'd love to be on the SC. As one of the first to reverse engineer and write up the .DAT syntax (using Lexx/Yacc), and also one of the first one to extend the syntax -- a standards committe would have helped back then :). The MLCad extensions look (...) (21 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: A call to membership! —Kevin Clague
(...) Paul, As the author of LDLite, I'd say you are well qualified to be on the SC. I'm very glad you are interested. When I started to write LPub, I had to reverse engineer ROTSTEP so I could support it in LPub. At the same time I asked Michael (...) (21 years ago, 19-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: A call to membership! —Paul Gyugyi
(...) Woot! :) (...) That would be cool. A little daunting, since L3P has quite a few nice controls, although LDGLite could probably handle them. I had talked with Don a year or more ago, and at the time we felt a tool-driven image renderer was the (...) (21 years ago, 20-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: A call to membership! —Chris Dee
(...) If the ToR for this committee will include Part Naming standards, as well as LDraw language standards, then I believe either Steve Bliss or I needs to be included. Geography may play a part here, depending on how real-time you intend the (...) (21 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

         Standards Body Thoughts —Tim Courtney
Hi Chris - (...) I agree that one of you should be involved on this committee/board. (...) I'm a fan of real-time chat or phone, and while I won't be participating as a member of the board, encourage the members to use such methods. (...) Ok. Steve (...)         Re: A call to membership! —Jacob Sparre Andersen
(...) I wouldn't mind joining the work of formalising the LDraw file format. Play well, Jacob (who has been off-line for a few days) (21 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: A call to membership! —Steve Bliss
[XPFUT lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw] (...) I'm interested and willing. Count me in. Although I may be a dissenting voice on a number of organizational issues. Steve (21 years ago, 22-Mar-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)
