Re: It’s the year 2008, where are my parts updates?

(...) Are there instructions anywhere on how to download and install or update unofficial parts? Is there a repository where all the unofficial parts live? Thanks, Paul Sinasohn LUGNET #115 (19 years ago, 21-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad)

Re: It’s the year 2008, where are my parts updates?

(...) That's what I do, too. And update from time to time. (...) I heartfully agree: we are desperately missing reviewers! While it does require some LDraw knowledge, it is nothing compared to authoring of complex parts... it took me years to get up (...) (19 years ago, 21-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad)

Re: It’s the year 2008, where are my parts updates?

(...) I'm *sure* that LDraw is not on death row. I have faith that things will get resolved. I'm sure part of the problem is that we have real lives, and sometimes that gets in the way of LEGO. Are you sure you cannot get along with an unofficial (...) (19 years ago, 21-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad)

  LPub Wiki

Hi folks, I wanted to let folks now that I am working hard at LPub 4.0, a WYSIWYG building instruction editor. Philo was kind enough to set up a wiki for people to report bugs, add feature requests, and watch the testing process proceed. (URL) I've (...) (19 years ago, 21-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad)

It’s the year 2008, where are my parts updates?

It has been over two years since the last LDraw parts update. Where the heck are the new ones? Are we just letting LDraw die? It is really seeming that way. Yes, I’ve read the ‘Lack of Parts Updates’ article. I read it over a year ago. And as far as (...) (19 years ago, 21-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Library Specifications for Canvas Parts

Hi folks, I'm currently working on the "Canvas Wagon Cover with Oval and Two Crossed Cutlasses Pattern" (URL) and before I start cleaning the part for PT-fitness I'd like to ask the LSC for some guidelines, since this is the first canvas part ever (...)   Re: Which CAD program recommended for Mac??

(...) As Travis remarked, many people install a program and then forget about the Read Me, myself included. (...) None what so ever. I often install open source (and even some commercial) programs that have less documentation than yours. (...) No, (...) (19 years ago, 15-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: Which CAD program recommended for Mac??

(...) I'd suggest moving the Readme into the app wrapper and adding an item to the help menu that uses [[NSWorkspace sharedWorkspace] openFile:] to show it. I installed Bricksmith a long time ago, and had completely forgotten that it came with a (...) (19 years ago, 13-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.mac, FTX)

Re: Which CAD program recommended for Mac??

(...) Sigh...Nobody ever reads the Read Me. Though those tidbits are indeed documented, I admit documentation is not my strong suit. I generally hope that users will explore menu items and find them to be fairly self-explanatory. (...) I'm curious (...) (19 years ago, 5-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.mac, FTX)

Re: Which CAD program recommended for Mac??

(...) Congratulations, Orion. That's nice to hear. (...) Thanks for at least trying it out. It is unfortunate you were unsatisfied, and you raise several valid points below. But you also lament about the "absence" of several features which are (...) (19 years ago, 5-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.mac, FTX)

Re: Which CAD program recommended for Mac??

(...) Ouch. Why is that? Bricksmith and MLCad are definitely different. Bricksmith offers a Mac-friendly interface designed by a lifelong Mac user. It makes organizing a model into submodels and steps completely seamless. It offers an editor with (...) (19 years ago, 5-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Re: Part 50944x1?

(...) Please visit my webside (URL) and look for the Tiny Turbo models. I am sure I have used there an available part that fits nearly for this purpose. cu mikeheide (19 years ago, 8-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad)

  Part 50944x1?

Does anyone have even a mock-up that's usable until the full part is ready? It's the wheels for almost all of the Tiny Turbo sets. I've been putting the tyres in without the wheels and man do those cars look weird. :-) (19 years ago, 6-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad)

Re: can LPUB PLI BEGIN ... sections be nested?

(...) Hi Steve, LPub cannot (and should not) support any nested META commands, except for the nesting implied by use of sub-models. I think the mistake you are making is to synthesize actual lego products, rather than by hose/cable type. The purpose (...) (19 years ago, 5-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Which CAD program recommended for Mac??

(...) Moving things manually a long distance is cumbersome, even with the coarse grid. The inspector does show the coordinates of the selected part or submodel, although I'm not sure if that's what you mean by cursor coordinates. Note that if you do (...)   Re: Which CAD program recommended for Mac??

(...) Yes, this is very annoying as using the arrow keys to move a part/assembly all the way across the model can be slow and painful, especially since Bricksmith doesn't seem to display cursor coordinates. (...) Ok, I see. I'd like functionality to (...) (19 years ago, 4-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

Re: Which CAD program recommended for Mac??

(...) Bricksmith is certainly unlike MLCad, which is indeed a fine program. However, I'd like to humbly correct a few inaccuracies I perceive in your list of drawbacks. (...) True. That is a definite difference. (...) False. Keyboard controls for (...) (19 years ago, 4-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.mac)

can LPUB PLI BEGIN ... sections be nested?

Can LPUB PLI BEGIN sections be nested? I did not have this problem until I started using lsynthcp version 3.0 (which I probably got directly from Kevin). This version of LSynth automatically inserts LPUB parts list directives to substitute the (...) (19 years ago, 4-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Which CAD program recommended for Mac??

(...) I'm going to have to disagree. As a long time MLCad user and a recent Mac convert (Nov 2007), I feel that while Bricksmith is a very good program, it has some very definite drawbacks that makes it difficult to use. Here's a list from off the (...) (19 years ago, 3-Feb-08, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.mac)
