  STL File for 3D Printing

I'd like to have a few LEGO bricks 3D printed at SIGGRAPH this year. I have a contact who is willing to print up the bricks for me using a StrataSys machine [1]. Can someone please create and send me an ASCII STL file of a 2x4 brick? Also, any other (...) (20 years ago, 1-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.events, FTX)

Re: STL File for 3D Printing

(...) Cool. (...) Hmm.. tricky. I know the machines we have in our model shop at work could handle those, not sure about the StratsSys machine though. (...) I can get you stl files, no problem. Feel free to email me a grocery list of parts you would (...) (20 years ago, 1-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.events, FTX)

Re: STL File for 3D Printing

(...) Jason.. Are you the Architect who did the lecture on LEGO detailing at the last BricksWest? If you are, Hi, and if you aren't, well... Hi anyway. Having spent the last week making Rapid Prototypes, I'm curious about the type of machine you (...) (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.events, FTX)

Re: STL File for 3D Printing

(...) Hi Tim, Since I just spent a week doing this, let me throw in a few caveats: If you're talking about going from DAT to reality using an RP machine, you're going to have to tweak some of the dimensions. As you know, DAT dimensions are not the (...) (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.events, FTX)

Re: STL File for 3D Printing

(...) Nope, that wasn't me. I'm a drafter (1). I haven't been to any brick cons yet, although I'm 95% sure I'll be at Brickfest in two weeks. But.. Hi yourself. (...) We have 2 FDM machines and 2 SLS ones. I'd have to go down there to get model (...) (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.parts.custom, FTX)

Re: STL File for 3D Printing

(...) Ah, oh well. Nice to e-meet you. (...) That's neat. I just spent a week at an RP conference, so the alphabet soup is still pretty fresh in my mind. I actually know what those acronyms stand for! (...) Oh, OK, you're doing it the "old fashioned (...) (20 years ago, 2-Aug-04, to lugnet.parts, lugnet.parts.custom, FTX)

Re: STL File for 3D Printing

(...) Dear Jason, I am also interested in getting an stl file of a 2x4 brick as well as a 4x4 plate. What I would really like is to create a 6"x6" or 12"x12" base plate out of 1/4" acrylic plexiglass (or hardrock maple) for a project I have in mind. (...)   Re: STL File for 3D Printing

(...) Tommy, I can get you those tomorrow. (I just got remember is all.) Wood parts cnc'd would be pretty cool. I could get you an stl file for a baseplate (whatever number of studs by whatever number of studs) if you'd like as well. Those would be (...)   Re: STL File for 3D Printing

(...) Cool! Now THAT I'd like to see done on an RP machine. Like maybe three feet tall! I wish I would've thought about that sooner; I already have one done in (URL) AutoCAD solids> and it would've been easy to convert that to STL. Oh well. Is Tim (...)   Re: STL File for 3D Printing

(...) Just a quick update on this ... The parts built with Stratasys and ZCorp machines are coming along well. My contact has printed a couple versions and Jason's been making improvements to the files that give us better results. I'll have pics (...)   Really BIG RP

Alas, someone beat me to the BIG LEGO idea.. Behold - the totally cool (URL) RP moonbuggy> Stratasys showed at SIGGRAPH this year, handled by L-PRIZE's own (URL) Tim Courtney>. Made of ABS, with some removable parts and rotating wheels. FYI, the (...) (20 years ago, 28-Aug-04, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.parts.custom, FTX)
