Well, my 10 year son learned practically instant how to use it, without any
help of my own. And while I was unable to find how to rotate the parts, he
showed me how to do it (shame on me, the adult !): when you're in drag mode,
press the arrows keys on your keyboard, left - right will rotate around y
axis, up - down will rotate around x axis.
Regarding the file format, I hope there will be a document describing it. As
it is now, it's not usefull at all for us. On the other side, the parts
seems to be described in much more detail then ldraw counterparts, and it is
included also a LOD (level-of-detail) feature which will be perfect for
large models.
Last comment: it worked perfect at home, on a 1.5 MHz P4 256 MB RAM with
GeForce 4 TI 4600 graphic card, but it was disapointingly slow on a 800 MHz
P3 512 MB RAM with GeForce 2 MX 32 MB computer. So, you DO NEED a good
hardware to run it. It's not for low end computers. By contrast, LDView
seems (visualy) to be 3-5 times faster (!!!) with a similar complex model.
Kind Regards,
Florin Herinean
