Re: Patterns: Outline or no outline?

Hi Lee, I've started looking at the process of creating patterns for parts. I've been reading through Willy Tschager article "Pattern It: (URL) found a copy of Monzoom (Willy's recommended program for manipulating 2D shapes), but as it's in German I (...)   Re: Patterns: Outline or no outline?

(...) The black sections on 973p74 are probably my mistake, since the basis of the pattern (without the Police decorations) was a copy of 973p73. Generally speaking, unless we have evidence the that colour is actually printed, by having the same (...) (14 years ago, 15-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: 3D laser scanning

(...) Hi all, I'm late to this party - I'm kind of languishing through another LEGO Dark Age.. We recently got a new desktop 3D scanner at my work. I am trying to learn how to use it, so I'd be up for doing some parts. The process of making the (...) (14 years ago, 15-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad, FTX)

Re: Patterns: Outline or no outline?

(...) I second that. I do not think there is a strict rule to follow. It depends mostly if main color adds or takes away something to the pattern. Check out my 973pw5 and how I interpreted: (URL) (14 years ago, 14-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Patterns: Outline or no outline?

Hello Lee, (...) A tough question indeed. The recommended practice is to be faithful to the real part, eg. if the areas with background color are not printed, then use main color, otherwise use solid background color. Exception to this occur if (...) (14 years ago, 14-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Patterns: Outline or no outline?

Since my last three patterned parts have gone over well I've been working on two more: (URL) running into a design problem with these parts that I haven't had with the others. As you see those two parts only come in black. What I wasn't sure about (...) (14 years ago, 14-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Re: Missing Parts

(...) Hi Rolf, Thank you very much for this! Now I only have two more files to find. Best regards, Miran (14 years ago, 14-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Speaking of parts, any knows if this part is being made or released L(EGO)Draw Batch? (URL) (14 years ago, 13-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Missing Parts

Hey, the part x93 is available through the L(EGO)Draw Third Batch: (URL) is not cleaned by now and has the numer 4328. Rolf (14 years ago, 11-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

  Missing Parts

Hi, I'm building a lot of stuff with MLCAD. But now I came across a problem I can't solve; I need the parts with bricklink.com codes 60800, 3068bpb62 and x93. Has anyone got these parts by any chance? (I've looked on the parts tracker on (...) (14 years ago, 10-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Primitives and long file names

(...) The plus for primitives is that they don't have to be human readable. It's possible to develop a system which more than covers the full range without breaking 8 characters. For example we use up to four characters (eg. 3-16) for fractions (...) (14 years ago, 9-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Primitives and long file names

(...) Most extreme will be this with a radius >100 e.g. 11-48120. You will never know if this is a ring or cone or whatever. (...) This should be practicable for existing parts when you are restricted to 8 characters (e.g. by using DOS - see the (...) (14 years ago, 7-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Primitives and long file names

(...) Yes, maybe it's time to consider a total makeover of the LDraw language. If you do so, then don't forget to add support for pattern picture files too. /Tore (14 years ago, 5-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Primitives and long file names

(...) Sidestep the issue. Extend the LDraw language by defining new line-types for curves, discs, spheres, cylinders, rings, cones and torii! :) Sorry, I'll go back to deep lurking mode now. Steve (14 years ago, 4-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDVIEW not working on Vista

Thanks for your suggestions. I want you to know that I really do appreciate them. I have some replies to them below.   Primitives and long file names

Now that long file names are allowed in LDraw and on Parts Tracker, what should we do with primitives for which name systematics gives filenames length > 8 characters? - Continue to cram everything in 8 characters nonetheless, eg. (URL) some (...) (14 years ago, 3-Mar-11, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDVIEW not working on Vista
