Re: Automatic download of unofficial parts in LDView

(...) Shouldn't be a problem at all. If it's anything significant, I'll just start mirroring the DAT files to media.peeron.com, and have you use that. Then it certainly wouldn't be an issue. (...) Sounds reasonable. Perhaps it might be more (...) (18 years ago, 17-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Suggested New Primitive: 4-4cyl12.dat (was: More cylinder primitives wanted)

[Lotsa snipping] (...) I'm fine with that. Taking up the issues Chris raised (but out of order): (...) I think we need to allow for partial rods. (...) It seems fair to limit rods to single-digit denominators. Since these are primarily convenience (...) (18 years ago, 17-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: Suggested New Primitive: 4-4cyl12.dat (was: More cylinder primitives wanted)

(...) We could use "rod" as a short base name for these. Do we need to allow for non-360 degree versions? I didn't see any requirements for partial cylinders in the thread so far. Was that implicit in the request? 1) If not, one would be to use a (...) (18 years ago, 17-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: LSC - current status?

(...) LDList creates a file similar to what you describe, called ldrawlist.txt. I'm not sure how well the format would work for translations... Alternately, how about something more like this? (URL) only does a few parts right now) (...) Very true. (...) (18 years ago, 16-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Suggested New Primitive: 4-4cyl12.dat (was: More cylinder primitives wanted)

(...) Since we've already got primitives like '5-24cyli.dat', I think it would be a good idea to restrict the suffix of the file name to 4 characters. I wouldn't want to start right out making specialized cylinders-with-edges for every single (...) (18 years ago, 16-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

  Re: LSC - current status?

(...) I'm not Willy, but I think I can still provide a pretty good answer to all your localization questions. (...) Allow non-English speakers to be able to search for things in their own language when using a modeling program (presumably MLCad). I (...) (18 years ago, 16-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LSC - current status?

(...) I have applied Robert's Rules in order to get this restarted. I will call for a vote as soon as Orion is back from his trip to sea. (...) This topic has not been discussed. For me personally it is for lack of interest. I have questions about (...) (18 years ago, 16-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Re: Suggested New Primitive: 4-4cyl12.dat (was: More cylinder primitives wanted)

(...) I thought of that, but liked the idea of more descriptive names, like the rect*.dat series. The '1' would in this case stand for number of discs, and '2' for number of edges. But I could definifly live with cyla, cylb etc too. (...) Same here. (...) (18 years ago, 15-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: New Part: 3069bpw0.dat - Tile 1 x 2 with "Wanted - Flatfoot Thomsen" Pattern

(...) This kind of part can really point out the usefulness of having a viewer that automatically downloads unofficial files: 21 sub-parts. Yowzers! (See (URL) here> if you're confused.) Running with my dev code, I just created a file that (...) (18 years ago, 15-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Re: New Part: 3069bpw0.dat - Tile 1 x 2 with "Wanted - Flatfoot Thomsen" Pattern

(...) Wow. How did you create this masterwork? Was it all manual, or did you use specialized tools? That's a great amount of detail! Hmm, another 8 letters to go, and you'd have a complete alphabet... Steve (18 years ago, 15-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: Suggested New Primitive: 4-4cyl12.dat (was: More cylinder primitives wanted)

(...) How about N-4cyla.dat, N-4cylb.dat, etc? Although I have to admit -- I'm not a huge fan of saving a few lines of code here and there. When two such primitives are adjacent, I always have to double-check which one includes the edge(s). (...) (...) (18 years ago, 15-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: Automatic download of unofficial parts in LDView

Re: Automatic download of unofficial parts in LDView

(...) Can this be an option as I review all my "unofficial parts in development" with LDView :D Thanks (18 years ago, 15-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  New Part: 3069bpw0.dat - Tile 1 x 2 with "Wanted - Flatfoot Thomsen" Pattern

hi folks, I just uploaded this part to the PT: (2 URLs) considering the sheer number of subparts it'll take probably ages to put it through the reviews but inlining the letters would have blown the file to some 250 KB. 8-) w. (18 years ago, 14-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts, FTX)

Suggested New Primitive: 4-4cyl12.dat (was: More cylinder primitives wanted)  [DAT]

(...) There is no rule against primitive files calling to other \P files. I didn't have to look very long to find one. And if we inlined them, I suspect the primitive substitution in L3P will not work until L3P is updated to support the new ones. (...) (18 years ago, 14-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts.primitives)

Re: Automatic download of unofficial parts in LDView

(...) I can definitely see where you're coming from, and there's certainly a danger that having a viewer transparently support unofficial parts will encourage their use without being included inside the MPD file. Having said that, I see a whole lot (...) (18 years ago, 14-May-06, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, FTX)

Re: Automatic download of unofficial parts in LDView

Re: Automatic download of unofficial parts in LDView

If you were to download the unofficial parts into a distinct directory (eg. in the ldview dir tree) and then call them from there it would allow an (...)   Re: Automatic download of unofficial parts in LDView

(...) Hi Travis, It's good to know you still think about adding even more features to LDView. At some feature-complete point many programmers prefer to switch to a newer thus more exiting development rather than cherrish and grow the baby. However, (...)
