Re: LDraw.org 2004-03 Parts Update Now Corrected

(...) I would just like to say that this parts update contains my first created part from scratch (264.dat). My parts in previous updates were fixes of existing parts or new patterns. This encourages me to continue creating parts in the future. (...) (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-03 Parts Update Now Available

(...) Now fixed - see (URL) Many thanks for reporting this so promptly. Chris (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.cad)

LDraw.org 2004-03 Parts Update Now Corrected

There was a problem with the self-extracting archives for lcad0403 and the new complete archive that created the files in c:\windows\temp. This has now been corrected in the versions of these downloads at (URL). If you downloaded the original (...) (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.cad)

  Re: Certifying sub-parts (was: LDraw.org 2004-03)

(...) Maybe comments could be left by the submitter somewhere to prompt you when preparing an update? Still relies on it being seen, I guess. (...) Yes, I see. I could re-submit them as x170 and x171, but I don't know if the system would let me? And (...) (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-03 Parts Update Now Available

(...) Sorry - this is a problem with the archive. I will try and get it fixed. In the meantime I have temporarily withdrawn the update. Chris (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: LDraw.org 2004-03 Parts Update Now Available

(...) Maybe I am going batty, or there is something strange with Windows XP SP2. I don't know, but when I installed this update, the new files were written to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\LDRAW rather than C:\LDRAW. Needless to say, the files can't be read by (...) (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Certifying sub-parts (was: LDraw.org 2004-03)

(...) We could, but I'd rather not; this is an exceptional case. In general circumstances, we'd consider x170c01.dat to be broken. It'd be nice if there was an easier way to tell the tracker about groups of files that need to be released together. (...) (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Certifying sub-parts (was: LDraw.org 2004-03)

(...) Yeah, I'm more worried about how much more difficult it becomes to certify, because reviewers need to modify all the references manually, and if they don't know to do that, they think it's broken and put a hold on it (like steffen). Is there (...) (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Certifying sub-parts (was: LDraw.org 2004-03)

(...) Yes, generally we would release files like this as a group. But that is a manual check, and it is possible to miss occasional items. In the long term, it will work out alright -- we could resubmit x170c01.dat with fixed references. If we don't (...) (20 years ago, 16-Sep-04, to lugnet.cad)
