Background effects. Was [Re: MINI C-38 Dropship]

(...) I think you can achieve that effect in any renderer. Just turn off lighting and use bricks that are all the same color as the background. I think I (or someone else) came up with that technique when I did this picture to show some missing (...) (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: MINI C-38 Dropship

(...) I like how you use the droid parts for the angled cockpit area. But does that 1x4 gray tile with black stripes exist in real life? Cheers, (URL) Sci-Fi LEGO> (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, FTX)

  Ldraw to Anton's lib

Is it possible to pass or convert Ldraw files to Anton's LEGO POVRAY lib? If can someone show me some example and how to? Thx (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: New LDraw based editor... GLIDE.

Hi All. Just a few new things for version ALPHA 0.72: GLIDE Icon, Smooth look lines, camera rotation, mouse brick movement, drag selection, and EXPLODE. To rotate and move the camera just deselect all the bricks then use the brick movement and (...) (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

(...) bad). On a side note, did you use LDView for the line drawings? (I'm not aware of any other programs that have an "edges only" feature, but that certainly doesn't mean there aren't any.) If you did use LDView, you might want to turn off (...) (21 years ago, 20-Apr-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad)

  MINI C-38 Dropship

I created some new MINI dropships: the C-47 and the C-38. The most interesting detail is the engine, I think sometime I'll upload some more pictures about it. I wasn't satisfied with my entry for the P-38 lightning contest ( (URL) ) and I think, the (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad)

  Re: New LDraw contest?

(...) I say why not have both. I like Orion's idea of a web contest, its light, low overhead, and let the users decide the winner by voting. It will do well to showcase work and also to stimulate competition with little work output on Orion's (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: New LDraw contest?

(...) I'd be sorta intersted, although I don't really like competitions. I'm more into the animation festivals where everyone makes animations, the best are chosen, then they are all shipped on a DVD/VHS. Bimonthly? I imagine there would be 1 or 2 (...)   Re: New LDraw contest?

(...) Great Idea. Have been waiting for this for a while. I feel that you should base the time frame on how many responses you get. If a lot of people enter then every month is good. If not then adjust. If nothing else will show what can be done (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: New LDraw based editor... GLIDE.

(...) Seconded. I particularly like the cartoony renderering, presumably done by increasing OpenGL's line width and not using lighting? Solve all your mismatching normal problems by not using them! Genius (...) I've played around with available 3DS (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Why aren't LDRAW tools Open Source?

(...) Thanks, I presume you don't run Windows XP on that Large Font system? It seems XP implements Large Fonts differently, to ensure that programs created with Borland Delphi does not scale well :-( -- Anders Isaksson, Sweden BlockCAD: (2 URLs) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

[Parts Tracker] More name changes for Dishes

[I'll follow-up this message with an FTX-formatted reference] Here's some material for your Monday morning spit-take...   Re: Why aren't LDRAW tools Open Source?

Re: Why aren't LDRAW tools Open Source?

(...) Actually, I'd very much like to figure what definition information can be put in part files, and how model files could then specify the specific way the part is deformed. Steve (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: New LDraw contest?

(...) There is another ongoing contest related to LDraw animation. Who will be the first to set up a system for LDraw animating made really easy? I know at least four different attempts, including my LDA2001. Maybe LD4D is the most promising so far. (...) (21 years ago, 19-Apr-04, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw, lugnet.animation)

  Re: New LDraw contest?

(...) Quarterly sounds good to me too. Since this has the potential to be really cool, and its not as often as once a month, I wonder what the chance of getting people/companies to sponsor small prizes (less than USD 50 value) for the winners?   Re: New LDraw contest?
