The history behind this change goes something like this:
Part 2654 (Boat 2 x 2 Stud) has had a Bad Name for a long time. While
discussing options, Chris Dee suggested 'Plate 2 x 2 Dished'. My first reaction
was 'ugh'. However, in the course of writing a response, I looked up the
definition of 'dish', and looked at other 'dished' parts, and came to the
conclusion that part 2654 is really most like a dish. Not a plate, not a tile,
but a dish. I sent out a message that 2654 should be named 'Dish 2 x 2'. I
received some rather strong negative responses. I explained my position, and
did not receive any further response. Maybe I convinced everyone; maybe I just
wore them down.
Furthermore, 2654 is a 'right side up' dish, and the radar dish parts should be
named as 'inverted dish' parts. And other dish-like parts should be renamed to
be inline.
So that's where things stand. Chris and I are agreed about this direction, and
I've submitted the changes to the Parts Tracker. Further discussion towards
tweaking the names might be needed (for instance, vertical dimensionality is not
treated consistently) but the overall direction is pretty fixed at this point.
Feel free to flame. I've donned my fire-retardant undies.

1) 214.dat should be an x-number, since it's not yet officially released.
