  LDRAW.org is back ... kinda

I noticed that the LDraw.org site is back up, and looking good. However, when I try to do nearly anything through the Parts Tracker, it prompts me for a CGI username and password. Any idea when this part of the site will be accessible to the public (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Elections and Membership in ldraw.org

(...) OK, so you favor requireing a drivers license or something else more stringent then? Or restricting it to just LUGNET members only? or what? And you're OK if you go to 0 votes if any two of these are discovered to be the same when probed? What (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Crazy, OK Heretical Idea ...

(...) LOL, that's kind of like saying, "Did I mention that I loathe Microsoft?" (Hmmm... You probably say that too..) AutoCAD is the 300lb gorilla of CAD. (...) Of course you're correct. But keep in mind CAD software was written to do a specific job (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Switching from BITMAP/JPEG to PNG

(...) That's what I thought too, but it actually takes up to 48-bit color and 16 bit grayscale images. (URL)With all that said I agree that .PNG only support is fine, there are many (...) Exactly my thoughts. PNG-only support will simplify the (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.inst)

  Re: Translating MLCad

Hi, you are right - this is a bug. I better change that in the next version, because there are already several language files available. Michael "Robert Seifert" <seifrob@hotmail.com> schrieb im Newsbeitrag news:HE1o4q.1GI9@lugnet.com... (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: Elections and Membership in ldraw.org

(...) Just to get people thinking, since maybe we're stuck... try this strawman To be an ldraw.org member, you have to supply 3 things, all of which are retained in a DB for validation (but not made public) 1. your real name 2. a working email (...)   Re: Elections and Membership in ldraw.org

(...) OK, would that be sufficient? Only LUGNET(tm) members can be members? Is that too exclusionary? It's certainly simple enough. If it IS too exclusionary, what scheme would you suggest for those potential members who are not LUGNET members? (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Elections and Membership in ldraw.org

(...) Why not? ldraw.org would presumably be (by Bylaws provision) banned from selling the info, and would presumably be bound to take all reasonable care with the information. Those restrictions (which would take a lot of work to ever change, by (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: Elections and Membership in ldraw.org

(...) I completely agree with Jennifer. As I stated before, we're not running State elections we're voting for a hobby organization. The problem about false votes has been blown way out a proportion. It may be a problem if we had 1000's of people (...) (21 years ago, 28-Apr-03, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)
