Hey everyone stop and check this new LDVIEW like app

Today just minutes ago I was surfing around (URL) I was looking for a 3D engine to have my ldraw models in realtime so that I could play with them and so on but I remember someone was working on something like what i'm looking for anyway I went to (...) (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Parts Tracker - Using L3P-check to scan submitted files

I finally formatted the material about L3P messages vs. part files and put it under the reference area of the Parts Tracker. (URL) If you don't have L3P installed on your computer, you can check your part files at: (URL) This script must upload your (...) (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

"Erik Olson" <erik@olson.pair.com> wrote in message news:Gr6uoo.92@lugnet.com... (...) Yup, that's probably the best approach for the Modeling category. That could further break down Modeling to: MODL 101-M: Intro to MLCAD MODL 101-L: Intro to (...) (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDraw Tutorial Categories

Hi Ahui - Sorry for the delayed response. "Ahui Herrera" <jedi_agh@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:Gr6JL4.A19@lugnet.com... (...) All of the categories look fine, I just prefer Bram's four letter abbreviation syste: (ANIM, RNDR, MODL, PART, CONV). (...) (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDraw Tutorial Categories

(...) Hi Ahui and all others, I am currently writing a combined Con 1xx and Ren 1xx. The first two chapters are already (yesterday actually) send to Tim Courtney (did you recieve them Tim?). They cover a short explanation of the software (L3P, L3PAO (...) (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Is there a moved-to utility?

(...) There's two programs I know of that do this: MLCad and a Perl script I wrote over three (!) years ago. It wrote the changes back to the original file, and all the little things (like the LDraw path) had to be hard-coded into the script. I (...) (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: LDraw Tutorial Categories

I don't know how long will this take for me. I'm pretty slow right now. And there are very big differences in how we make our short-films. I don't like to write *the* animation tutorial, but I'd like to make one among other (...) (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Is there a moved-to utility?

(...) That would be very handy, and nice to have. I seem to remember there was a program around that performed this job, but I don't remember the details now. LDAO has a "Mover" function, but it only cleans up one file at a time. Steve (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad.dev)

Shoud I sign up up for taking this tutorial? (...) (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDraw Tutorial Categories

(...) I think this is already being covered in Mod 101 - Buildng your 1st model with an editor (MLCad, Leocad, etc...) We will need one for each... Are you volunteerting? - Ahui (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Is there a moved-to utility?

While working with old model files like Datsville, I used to get countless moved-to-messages. I am pretty sure that ML-Cad prompts the user if he/she wants the program to change the references, but that could still be quite a time-consuming thing to (...)   Re: LDraw Tutorial Categories

What about tutorials that are specific to one program? Like "Introduction to LeoCad" for example. (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDraw Tutorial Categories

(...) This is exactly what I'm doing right now! A "behind the scenes" diary describing my current work on a Datsville animation. I may make it in two versions: one brief on how I made the right steps, and one long with all mistakes and sidesteps (...) (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: LDraw Tutorial Categories

good grief, don't we have enough abbreviations and acronyms already? What is too long about single-word categories? Imgn: Con 202: Mxng LDR and 3DS usng IGES btwn Clsss Thx -Erk Bram, do they use 3 or 4 lttr abbs at CWRU? My ENGR schl used 4. (23 years ago, 8-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

  RE: LDraw Tutorial Categories

(...) Looks good to me. However, consonants are more important than vowels when making abbreviations. I think for 3 letter codes, Anm, Rnd, Mdl, Prt, and Cnv are easier to interpret? 4 letter codes would be even easier: Anim, Rndr, Modl, Part, Conv (...) (23 years ago, 7-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: When will be the next ldraw parts update be out?

(...) That's great. A 50-60 part update every four-six weeks is much better than we achieved last year. IMHO, that really shows the benefit of the time investment you have put into the Parts Tracker. Chris (23 years ago, 7-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

Re: When will be the next ldraw parts update be out?

Re: When will be the next ldraw parts update be out?

(...) Yes and no. We definitely need more people reviewing files. OTOH, there are 31 files flagged "Needs admin review". I have to check each of those files, and the comments and history associated with them. So I'm being a bit of a bottleneck right (...) (23 years ago, 7-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)

"Franklin W. Cain" <fwcain@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:Gr6LF1.GLB@lugnet.com... (...) IIRC, Steve's been asking for people to help review parts as well. Could this be part of the holdup? -Tim (23 years ago, 7-Feb-02, to lugnet.cad)
