  Getting started: On Linux

I have updated my installation guide for getting started drawing and viewing building instructions on Linux: (URL) has created a similar - somewhat more extensive - page for Windows users, and a MacOS specific page should also be on its way. Have a (...) (23 years ago, 17-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

  Re: Rendering Datsville with POV-Ray

Tore, if you could create a tutorial while you're working on it on "How to Build Datsville", it might make a good addition to the reference section of ldraw.org. Anyway, it would give some information for people to chew on. Slap some screenshots on (...) (23 years ago, 17-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Rendering Datsville with POV-Ray

(...) Yeah, but in the model creation process, no real time would be lost. If an automaitic utility were created to aid in the building process that would, say, ask for the requested element size, you could make a ttore brick that's 15 x 15 x 1, or (...) (23 years ago, 17-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Rendering Datsville with POV-Ray

(...) That sounds very clever to me! (...) Sorry for being unclear, I just meant that the name of the part should be "brick", "plate" or "tile", with some size spesification afterwards, but nothing more. If the name includes anything besides the (...) (23 years ago, 17-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad)

  Re: Rendering Datsville with POV-Ray

(...) I didn't realize that simplifying could be so complicated. :o) I have already made a program that suggests all bricks, plates, and tiles to be replaced. Before it performs the replacing, the user has the chance to deselect those parts that (...) (23 years ago, 17-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad)

idea for next version, include ttore boxes

Michael, if in next version of MLCad you could include support for ttore.box's, one would be able to make render-smart models without having to waste time by going back and "optimizing" the same model model you just built. A new menu item like "New (...) (23 years ago, 17-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)

  Re: BFC revisited

I have printed the bfcspec file for review. Hopefully I will get a response back to you. I have been using BFC in most all my new parts for the last six months or so. Please send me the BFC compliant primitives, so that I can be sure I am using them (...) (23 years ago, 17-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: BFC revisited

I forgot to mention: if anyone is interested in looking at the most-recent version of the BFC proposal, it's still at: (URL). The first screen of text is meta-comments about the status of the proposal. The actual proposal starts at the line "LDraw (...) (23 years ago, 17-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: BFC revisited

There was never agreement on what the BFC standard should be. So there aren't very many parts that follow it in any way. I do have a set of primitives that are BFC-compliant. I didn't straighten out all the primitives, but I did a number of them. I (...) (23 years ago, 17-Aug-01, to lugnet.cad.dev)
