Re: I made my first comuterized LEGO models

  Re: Unknown# - Hinge Brick 1 X 6 Locking Double

(...) Oops, my bad, I forgot to edit this last part (I was copying-and-pasting from another message). Although no one has requested this part, yet, I'd still ask that you register it with Tore, so we can keep the parts tracker up to date. (You see, (...) (...) [snip] John, 1. Have you sent this to Steve for inclusion into the next vote for the next parts update? 2. Have you registered this part with Tore's parts tracker? Just trying to help. Thanks, Franklin (24 years ago, 4-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Hello, I just finished a first implementation for creating flexable axes and i'm quickly posting it before i go home for the weekend. It's my second program ever and my first object oriented one (so don't expect too much :-) ). If someone wants to (...) (24 years ago, 4-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dev)

  Re: Baroque Church Facade

(...) Sure. I use MLCAD myself, but only to _render_ (display) the model. For my actual typing, I use Notepad. (A DAT file is simply an ASCII text file with a different extension.) Open up Wordpad (not Notepad). Open a File, of "any type", in your (...) (24 years ago, 4-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.models)

  Re: Baroque Church Facade

Thanks Can you elaborate more on your suggested change? I'm a newbie to this stuff, and just use MLCAD for all editing. I never mess with the actual text files or part properties. In previous versions, if I recall correctly, double-clicking on a part in the view panes performed the same operation as double-clicking on a part in the element listing... it brings up the part# modification dialog.   I made my first comuterized LEGO models

Not having a Lego-drawing program to work with, I used the Paint program. It took a while, but wasn't that hard with the straight line tool. They look surprisingly neat, but don't have studs (yet). Just small stuff for now, a nice snow plough made (...) (24 years ago, 4-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.fun, lugnet.general)

Re: Is it appropriate to post large models here?

(...) The high detail versions of the 8880 wheels where quite large. Surprisingly, the largest part I have in my collection is the floating astronaut picture piece. (24 years ago, 4-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Is it appropriate to post large models here?

(...) It's not, no, and I think there have been a couple large parts that were converted from some other format that were in the neighborhood of that size. --Todd (24 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: New Partsref is pure bliss

(...) Beige is whiter than the "tan" bricks (white bricks do turn "tan" in the sun though). Tan, before TLC started making it, was a brownish grey, wasn't it? I would like to call the brick colour "sand". (24 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.general)

Re: New Partsref is pure bliss

(...) Another reason to call it 'tan' is because that's a lot easier to spell! :-) -- David Schilling (24 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.general)

Re: How do I speed things up ?

It sure would ! I was thinking along these lines a few days ago and I tried a small experiment. I manually edited copies of the .dat files for the basic bricks that my model uses and removed all of the "extraneous" quads and studs so that each part (...) (...) And one quadrant is still "squirrely". Try a zoom of about 6000 in l3lab, select the menu option "View/Random colors" and then spin the chain link around a few times. You'll see that all the polys are nice and parallel in 3 quadrants, but all (...) (24 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: How do I speed things up ?

(...) Yes, it would help. How about having an option to draw all prior steps in wireframe mode? Or have a meta-statement to turn wireframe off and on? Either of those might be easier to use than flagging specific parts. Steve (24 years ago, 3-Nov-00, to lugnet.cad.mlcad)
