They're still type-"2" lines.

And one quadrant is still "squirrely".  Try a zoom of about 6000 in l3lab,
select the menu option "View/Random colors" and then spin the chain link
around a few times.  You'll see that all the polys are nice and parallel
in 3 quadrants, but all messed up in the other quadrant.  It looks like some
of them go *through* the chain, leaving gaps in the exterior shell.
