Re: Some TLC folks use LDraw, MLCad (Was: The Artemis Project)

(...) I believe their use of the software is cumbersome and limited, because even though they have state of the art CAD systems, they still print out LARGE sheets of brick graph paper (~6' wide plotter) with images on them and trace the studs. Plus, (...) (24 years ago, 25-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish, lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: Some TLC folks use LDraw, MLCad (Was: The Artemis Project)

(...) Well, Entirely possible, but not necessarily... I know of many Industrial Designers & Architects who use very state-of-the-art CAD/CAID software at work, but use very cheap & limited software at home for their personal creativity... Why? (...)   Re: September MOTM voting is ready

(...) Yup. VERY tough voting, I'll have to think about where to cast my vote for a long time. Great models this month! And a big thanks goes out to Terry who is filling in for me while I can't update the site for a few days. -Tim (24 years ago, 25-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad.dev.org.ldraw)

Re: L3P / POVRay material questions

(...) Thanks! :-, But I had trouble positioning the light_source; it wouldn't be rotated and translated like an object. Did you have to figure out the coordinates all over again? BTW, any chance of seeing the .POV for your scene? (...) Is that rgbf (...) (24 years ago, 25-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad.ray)

  September MOTM voting is ready

Hi all, The September LDraw.org Model Of The Month voting is up and ready at: (URL) entries to choose from this time. And just a reminder, entries should be submitted WITH a short text about the model and/or scene. And can the entrants for this (...)   Re: Some TLC folks use LDraw, MLCad (Was: The Artemis Project)

(...) Well, its clear that the LCAD advancements are the BEST we've seen of any 3D Lego design program, with the exception of the illusive TLC instructions program (which, from what I've seen, I wouldn't be surprised if it was VERY limited). So, (...) (24 years ago, 25-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish, lugnet.dear-lego, lugnet.cad.mlcad)

Re: Tim visits the Model Shop (was: Re: The Artemis Project)

(...) Actually they are aware of a lot of things, I know someone from TLC who tried LeoCAD. It's not a big surprise, if they know Lugnet then it's almost impossible not to know the CAD newsgroups too. (...) We could come up with a simple standard (...) (24 years ago, 25-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad)

Re: Hacked my first part -- 4349 Town Loudhailer  [DAT]

(...) Also: - Fixed my goofy 4/5 lines. - Shoved the handle into the body, adjusting the handle's length to compensate, so that there are no gaps between the handle and the ribbing. - Added header stuff. 2 questions remain: - Is this good enough? (I (...) (24 years ago, 25-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad.dat.parts)

Re: 2nd. Idea for a new feature to help rotation of parts in Ldraw Cad software

(...) Looks good so far! (...) Cool, thanks! :-, (...) Looks good. I suggest that the <mf> can be set from inside MLCad, like a file's read-only bit in a file manager. (...) Sounds like you'd want just one per model. How would you handle more than (...) (24 years ago, 25-Aug-00, to lugnet.cad)
