Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) Try "radial engine" or "radial rotary engine" the more correct term for the engine type in your search. Best DaveG (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Opinion on the Sopwith Camel?

(...) I've been trying to find a diagram of the old rotary engine, but searches always bring up the Wankel engine, which isn't nearly the same thing. I'm trying to get a sense for how much of the engine rotated, and how fuel delivery was done if the (...) (23 years ago, 19-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.sculpture, lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Fokker Dr. 1

That is amazing! Great job! I love it! It is so life like, so smooth, I love the cannons, the wings are perfect, this is sweet, I can just hear the sound of the engine in my ear, ;-) Great work! can't wait to see more! -Geordan- (...) (23 years ago, 17-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Take Two - Heinkel He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Good point; I think I could do this with the current structure by adding 45 slopes to the top of the wing, and shifting everything up by one brick. I could also lengthen them in the same way. I'll try it out. (...) You're right, the silhouette (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Fokker Dr. 1

(...) Thank you for your compliments and your feedback. I can certainly fix that easily enough. That is a very good idea (thank you!) and I'll start doing it with future war models. In the mean time, I'm going to go hunt down a few pictures of the (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Fokker Dr. 1

(...) Drew, Very nice, the landing gear is an inspired design. One quibble that I'm guilty of two is not including a few pics or links of the real thing, for comparison. Thanks, George (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Take Two - Heinkel He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Gary, I like it much better with the new canopy. Thanks, George (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Take Two - Heinkel He219 WWII German Nightfighter

Gary, I must say, i like this new incarnation better than the last one. The previous canopy just didn't work for me. If i may offer a few suggestions though, i would say the only areas that need a bit of work are the engines and wingtips. - i think (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Take Two - Heinkel He219 WWII German Nightfighter

Thanks to some new parts off BrickBay and a little creative part-shuffling, I've redone my Heinkel He-219, complete with bubble canopy, tricycle landing-gear, and enough dark-grey plates to finally cover the wings. To be honest, my last post looks (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) By "one in front of the other" do you mean "back to back"? If you put 'em back to back, you can probably angle them as well--tilt them downward about 30 degrees and the curvature would be absolutely perfect. Can't wait to see the pictures!   Fokker Dr. 1

For my next model, I chose the Fokker Dr. 1, which was Baron Manfred von Richthofen's favored plane. Note the iron cross - the 'Balkenkeuz' on the side of the fusalage. Each squadron had its own color scheme, and I selected Jasta 11's - "The Flying (...) (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) My thoughts exactly - after I was finished I realized it was a passable Dornier 17, especially with the canopy I used, and the upper wing profile. Oh well. (...) The Salamander would be a totally cool MOC, I'd love to see the photos. (...) (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Thanks! (...) Ahh! You ruined the suprise... I just got 2 of the canopies in from Brickbay, and am overhauling the front end with them. I'll repost the new photos when I'm done - should look *much* better. I should've waited to begin with, but (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Thanks guys. Yeah, I thought how killer those antennae would look, didn't have any available though :( If I can dredge any up, I'll be sure to try them out. I just got some parts in from BrickBay, so I'm overhaulling the front end tonight. (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

Schräge-Musik installations, unfortunately, ignored the problem of falling bomber debris. :) And, of course, if they were photocell-actuated (rocket-firing versions were), your wingman could be in for a shock...   Re: SNOT Boating, con't (LONG)

Shaun, That's looking great! The hull's "smoothness" is very cool, The POV'd thumbnail's actually look like a real model boat hull, not lego, great job, I was at my library last night picking some WWII plane books up, and I checked for some (...)   Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) The old antennae do indeed come in grey - though I couldn't tell you what set, or what they're ging for now. I was thinking the same thing, they would be a perfect representation of the aerials in the front. Great plane, Gary! Somewhere (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)
