Gary,
I must say, i like this new incarnation better than the last one.  The
previous canopy just didn't work for me.

If i may offer a few suggestions though, i would say the only areas that need
a bit of work are the engines and wingtips.

- i think the engines need to be lengthened and raised, thouhg not by much in
either case.  In your reference pic, the engines are longer, which you might be
able to achieve by using two grey cylinders end to end, such as those from the
x-wing fighter engines (minifig scale set).  This would allow the engine to be
integrated into the wing structure much more, rather than having to be slung
under it, by making it look as though the wing passes through the center of the
engine structure, as in the reference picture.

- the wing tips should perhaps be tapered more, and a bit longer.  At present,
they are a bit too blunt and lack the characteristic post-engine long-tapering
found in the reference pic.  This could likely be achived with using grey star
wars wings, as they have almost the perfect silhouette for the task.

please don't take this the wrong way, i am just trying offer constructive
criticism (no pun intended!).

Other than that, it looks great!

Thanks to some new parts off BrickBay and a little creative part-shuffling,
I've redone my Heinkel He-219, complete with bubble canopy, tricycle
landing-gear, and enough dark-grey plates to finally cover the wings.

To be honest, my last post looks totally lame compared to this one, so
please take a second look.

I ended up using B-Wing bubble canopies instead A-Wing ones, since the grey
transparent looked much better than white transparent.

Anyways, hope you like it.

  Take care,

  Gary

(...) Good point; I think I could do this with the current structure by adding 45 slopes to the top of the wing, and shifting everything up by one brick. I could also lengthen them in the same way. I'll try it out. (...) You're right, the silhouette (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)
