  Re: Fokker Dr. 1

(...) Thank you for your compliments and your feedback. I can certainly fix that easily enough. That is a very good idea (thank you!) and I'll start doing it with future war models. In the mean time, I'm going to go hunt down a few pictures of the (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: Fokker Dr. 1

(...) Drew, Very nice, the landing gear is an inspired design. One quibble that I'm guilty of two is not including a few pics or links of the real thing, for comparison. Thanks, George (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Take Two - Heinkel He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Gary, I like it much better with the new canopy. Thanks, George (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Take Two - Heinkel He219 WWII German Nightfighter

Gary, I must say, i like this new incarnation better than the last one. The previous canopy just didn't work for me. If i may offer a few suggestions though, i would say the only areas that need a bit of work are the engines and wingtips. - i think (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Take Two - Heinkel He219 WWII German Nightfighter

Thanks to some new parts off BrickBay and a little creative part-shuffling, I've redone my Heinkel He-219, complete with bubble canopy, tricycle landing-gear, and enough dark-grey plates to finally cover the wings. To be honest, my last post looks (...) (23 years ago, 16-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) By "one in front of the other" do you mean "back to back"? If you put 'em back to back, you can probably angle them as well--tilt them downward about 30 degrees and the curvature would be absolutely perfect. Can't wait to see the pictures!   Fokker Dr. 1

For my next model, I chose the Fokker Dr. 1, which was Baron Manfred von Richthofen's favored plane. Note the iron cross - the 'Balkenkeuz' on the side of the fusalage. Each squadron had its own color scheme, and I selected Jasta 11's - "The Flying (...) (23 years ago, 15-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) My thoughts exactly - after I was finished I realized it was a passable Dornier 17, especially with the canopy I used, and the upper wing profile. Oh well. (...) The Salamander would be a totally cool MOC, I'd love to see the photos. (...) (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Thanks! (...) Ahh! You ruined the suprise... I just got 2 of the canopies in from Brickbay, and am overhauling the front end with them. I'll repost the new photos when I'm done - should look *much* better. I should've waited to begin with, but (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Thanks guys. Yeah, I thought how killer those antennae would look, didn't have any available though :( If I can dredge any up, I'll be sure to try them out. I just got some parts in from BrickBay, so I'm overhaulling the front end tonight. (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Schräge-Musik installations, unfortunately, ignored the problem of falling bomber debris. :) And, of course, if they were photocell-actuated (rocket-firing versions were), your wingman could be in for a shock...   Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Wow! that looks fabulous! the shape is so perfect, that is soooo cool! the wings are great, as are the tail fins. I love the engines too, they're sweet! Have you thought of using two naboo fighter canopies one in front of the other for the (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: SNOT Boating, con't (LONG)

Shaun, That's looking great! The hull's "smoothness" is very cool, The POV'd thumbnail's actually look like a real model boat hull, not lego, great job, I was at my library last night picking some WWII plane books up, and I checked for some (...)   Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) The old antennae do indeed come in grey - though I couldn't tell you what set, or what they're ging for now. I was thinking the same thing, they would be a perfect representation of the aerials in the front. Great plane, Gary! Somewhere (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  RE: SNOT Boating, con't

(...) You can turn off perspective in POV-Ray by adding the keyword "orthographic" to the camera. For example, camera { location <x,y,x> look_at <x',y',z'> orthographic } Hope that helps! Just remember to remove the keyword when you want perspective (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats, lugnet.cad.ray)

Re: Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

(...) Good MOC, you nailed the pencil thin fuselage, though once again the canopy is tricky. Did the old TV antenna's come in grey? That would look great, though I have no idea what they go for. George (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: SNOT Boating, con't

(...) I put up a couple more views. As much as I like POVRay, it unfortunately insists on a 3d perspective, so even when I want a simple top down or side projection view, you're stuck with some distortion on the ends. Ahh well, I suppose that is, (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)

Minifig scale He219 WWII German Nightfighter

Hi, I've put together my first WWII moc, a Heinkel He219 nightfighter (German). The He219 was a high-performance twin-engine fighter that debuted in 1943. Photos are here: (URL) The 4 antennae in the front are supposed to be radar aerials, not guns. (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military)

(...) *boo hoo hoo* You cad, I chawwenge you to a DUEL! :) (...) I'm glad you actually got a copy of the thing. I hope you'll post lateral and dorsal views--I'd like to get a look at that curvature. Do you actually have enough 1x1 technic beams to (...) (23 years ago, 14-Nov-01, to lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)
