Re: MOC: WWII Japanese Heavy Cruiser "Takao"

(...) Apologies for the delayed feedback - I don't have time to peruse Lugnet as much as I would like. Anyway... congrats on the nice MOC. The superstructure seems a little more boxy than it should, but I love the flared effect on the bow. I was a (...) (22 years ago, 10-Feb-03, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)

Re: Are LEGO going for military models now?

(...) I agree. What makes the chopper look like an attach chopper is the profile of the cockpit, I think. On the other hand, the floats on the side don't make too much sense for an attack chopper. And besides, it doesn't appear to have the weapon (...) (22 years ago, 8-Feb-03, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Are LEGO going for military models now?

(...) No, they'd be floats/sponsons like the Coast Guard used to use (see (URL) ) Cheers Richie Dulin (22 years ago, 8-Feb-03, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Are LEGO going for military models now?

(...) Agreed, it looks like a SAM battery, and isn't that a bit unappropriate for a set that was originally exclusive to airline companies (according to Brickset). Nothing more that I want to think about as I'm on a flight than surface-to-air (...) (22 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Are LEGO going for military models now?

The sheriff or police emblem seems pretty clear. I think the 'rocket launchers' are supposed to be landing skids (yeah, right). I definitely agree that alternate models seems like it has to be a SAM launcher... what else could it be? SAMs for the (...)   Re: Are LEGO going for military models now?

(...) I've heard that refered to in the media as 'trolley rage'. Steve (22 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Are LEGO going for military models now?

(...) Is that like road rage with a shopping trolley on a serious level? Martin (22 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.military)

Re: Are LEGO going for military models now?

(...) According to S@H, its an Air Police Helicopter. The alternate model looks like a SAM site to me. -Brad (22 years ago, 7-Feb-03, to lugnet.loc.au, lugnet.general, lugnet.build.military)

Are LEGO going for military models now?

After looking at the following set: (URL) would seem that LEGO are working towards building military models...This one looks rather like an attack shopper with 'radar' and SAM battery...though this could just be my seeing something that isn't (...)   Re: MOC: WWII Japanese Heavy Cruiser "Takao"

Richie- Thanks for the comments. I'm just waiting for the next incarnation of the Famous Mister Snottler to appear--they've been getting to be quite amazing, and given the extreme flare of the bows on those types of warships I'm looking forward to (...)   Re: MOC: WWII Japanese Heavy Cruiser "Takao"

Mattias- Thanks so much for the feedback--I think selective compression plus the minifig scale meant that some details (for example, using triple TT instead of the real ship's quads) were in fact sacrificed. But I'm sure it would be very possible (...) (22 years ago, 29-Jan-03, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)

Re: MOC: WWII Japanese Heavy Cruiser "Takao"

(...) Phew! That's a relief. I was afraid I'd just prattled on ceaselessly. :) I'm sorry the picture of yours that I liked so much and included was the last one on the Expo page, but those pictures had to go down there to encourage everyone to stick (...)   Re: MOC: WWII Japanese Heavy Cruiser "Takao"

(...) Truly magnificent, Lindsay. The LEGO scaling is amazing, the attention to detail superb. (One of my favourite details are your spoked wheel drums. I've already built a few - it's always good to find new uses for common (and seldom used parts). (...) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)

  Re: MOC: Attack Helicopter Snakehead.

(...) make it all out. It's a shame, really. I guess I'm spoiled :) (...) Wow, how do you keep that dicipline? :) Best regards, /Tobbe (URL) SPAM when e-mailing) (22 years ago, 28-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.military)

  Re: MOC: Attack Helicopter Snakehead.

Re: MOC: WWII Japanese Heavy Cruiser "Takao"

Wow. I think the keyboard is going to short out from all the drool. Mr. Braun, you ROCK. (22 years ago, 26-Jan-03, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)

  Re: Dreadnaught 2002

(...) Hey there, Lindsay. Yes, the "Hyper Saw" actually spins...there's a micro motor under the hood. I figured if BrikWars makes you take up space for a propulsion system, it might as well do something. Besides, it's kinda cool to watch. As for the (...)   Re: MOC: WWII Japanese Heavy Cruiser "Takao"

(...) Who? Me? ;-) (...) Yep, I did. Appreciate it! (...) Sorry to hear about this year. Here's to 2004- it's a long way off, but lookin' forward to it! TJ (22 years ago, 27-Jan-03, to lugnet.pirates, lugnet.build.military, lugnet.boats)

  Re: Dreadnaught 2002

(...) I'd been wondering who had the singular joy of creating that demented "Hall of Doom on a buzzsaw" (think "Superfriends")--was the Vader helm a part of the original plan, or did it just sort of get popped on top of it? And, well, how much (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.military)

  Dreadnaught 2002

NELUG hosted a BrikWars game the other weekend. It was a superheroes themed game and I was lucky enough to be the one who created all the villains. Dreadnaught 2002 (twenty-oh-two) is a next generation weapons platform designed to destroy the (...) (22 years ago, 27-Jan-03, to lugnet.build.military)
