i've heard a lot of talk about how transformers HAVE TO transform. to be
honest, i haven't seen a single transformer(c) robot actually look all that
great (remember how megatron [gen.1] looked as a robot? those really thin
legs, etc. and what about optimus--he looked just too rigid). even the
series and movie never fully replicated the toy robot forms because they
just looked too goofy. one needs artistic license when creating
transformers in robot form. some scale model manufacturers (see hlj.com and
transfandom.com) have created transformers that look really cool but don't
transform. i think that's what dave has done: take the transformers in
robot mode and make them look even better like in the series. not that i
have anything against lego transformer models that actually transform, i'm
just saying that we should accept what dave (and anne carasik re ravage)
have done by choosing not to have their models transform.
dave, your work is fantastic! from a distance i would've guessed your lego
models were actual resin scale models sculpted by professionals trying to
capture the true aestheics of the transformer mecha form! keep up the great
work!

| (...) Yes, I think they DO have to transform. NOT! Heh. I'd emailed Dave before, telling him I wished he'd kept all his pages up (he'd taken down the pics of his awesome Star Wars models)... I was quite relieved to finally see them show up on (...) (22 years ago, 17-Dec-02, to lugnet.build.mecha)
