As I said, I won't hold my breath. Getting TLC interested is a long shot,
but it's the only way these will ever be available as kits. I've looked
into trying to produce them independently, and obtaining the parts is not
even practical. Whether TLC would be interested in these for their own
production isn't really the issue. The issue is, will they sell parts to me
at a reasonable cost (and the parts I need, not just basic bricks). I would
be selling, marketing, etc.. under my own company. TLC wouldn't even have
to put their name on it unless that was what they wanted.
I will try to generate interest in several camps, TLC, Dreamwave, Hasbro,
and the Transformer fan base. If I can stir up interest all around, and
convince the necessary parties to work with me, then this might be a
possibility. Thin, I know, but it's worth a try.
As for TLC's mecha policy, it's hypcrytical at best, what are all the
bionicle guys holding if not weapons? I think they just need to be
impressed, maybe if they see colorful character based figures like these
they'll change their tune. I don't even think of these as Mecha per se,
they're robotic characters with a recognizeable story and unique
personalities behind them. With the resurgence of Transformer popularity
(even Tonka is making new transformers), I think the timing is ripe, if only
TLC will give this a chance.
Soundwave is likely my next Decepticon, but an Autobot is next. Have to
keep it balanced, or the Decepticons might get all the Earth's resources.
Prime might be able to hold them off on his own since Starscream will
undoubtedly foil the Decepticon plan, but is it really worth taking the
chance?
