After reading this thread, I had to find out if it was true or not.
It looks like it is true because I went digging through both Lego and
Bandai's secured servers and found a pic of one of the prototypes which I
uploaded to my folder:

What I'm really surprised by is it seems they are doing something right with
this license: no juniorization, lots of good pieces, great playability.
It's great to see they've finally come to their senses after screwing things
up the last few years.
To think Brad Justus had me fooled the whole time when I asked him about mecha!
