   Friends, Welcome to my building arena! (URL) Firstly I would like to thank ALL of those that have decided to join the first IRON MECHA. 42 participants have notified me of their intentions to play IRON MECHA as of Dec 31, 2005.       I didn't take Ralphie Parker's advise and have almost shot my eye out about 5 times working on the missile launcher. I would place the missile into the launcher to make sure it fit, etc. Only to forgot about it and then trigger the mechanism!!! (...)       (...) Hello Brian, as far as I can see on your pics the rotational part of the joints doesn't stand the weight. Try to rebuild the hip like in your first attempt.       (...) Marco, you were correct. It was the rotational part of the joints that caused the collapse. Once I switched the joints around, they held the weight.      You might try making a joint that only moves laterally at the hip (like with 2x2 turntables), and has a fixed minimum downward angle (like with click hinges that are wedged on the upper side to a fixed angle - they can bend down, but not up past a (...)        (...) Thanks! I've always suspected that the main .mecha worm gear builders were exploiting the gears to create the largest mecha the gears could support.       That new anti slop technique is great! Nice and compact. I didn't notice those knobby things weren't an "even" height. Technic has inexplicable oddities.      Great articulation. Everything is wormed. It should be able to do some unusual poses that not even the one in the example picture could do, since its legs look like they just have the equivalent of a ball joint at the hip.      Progress pic number 3. Not a lot has changed this time, although I finally came up with a nice shape for the missile pod/shoulder armour. Heels that actually support weight are nice too.    I like the use of plate skinning and the color scheme. Joint tech looks like a Bionicle/Throwbot hybrid. I thought about attaching the rear legs like that, then wondered how it would affect walking. But that setup may help it, like a grasshopper, (...)
