So I’ve been doing a little building this week, and have come up with a few
ideas.
I figured quite a few people would be using those exoforce/knight’s kingdom
joints, and I wanted to do something a little more challenging:
I’ve wanted to make a worm gear frame for some time, so I have been playing
around with various gear combos, trying to make them small but strong. As they
are now, they’re pretty generic, and can either be used in a quadraped frame or
a biped frame.
One nice thing to come out of this project is that I found a nice way to
eliminate the slop in worm gears:
The concept is similar to a techique described by Brian Cooper in his teknomeka
instructions, but this uses different parts, and is a little more compact (I
think).
Unfortunately, I’m running short on parts and time, and next Friday I have to
leave town for a while on
business, so
whatever I don’t finish by then won’t get done. But I’ll see what I can do!

| That new anti slop technique is great! Nice and compact. I didn't notice those knobby things weren't an "even" height. Technic has inexplicable oddities. (I'd still like to know why the worm gears are too short in the first place. It's a subtle (...) (19 years ago, 6-Jan-06, to lugnet.build.mecha, FTX)
