  First attempt at mecha
 
Hello all! This is my first post to .build.mecha and my first attempt at creating something mecha. Please check out (URL) and click on Infantry > Walkers. Currently there are two light walkers online, one biped and one quadruped. It is nothing like (...) (22 years ago, 16-Mar-03, to lugnet.build.mecha)

New mech called Angel, (URL) teaser in case the folder isn't moderated yet, though BS has been remarkably fast! Who do we thank for that? (URL) here is a police mech I call Angel. Okay, sorry for the misunderstanding. 1x1 clip plates 1x1 brick with studs on 5 sides 1x1 plate with eyehole on side. 1x1 plate with clip on side 4x1 lightsaber blade 3x1 Technic axle with stud More generally: Standard and inverse slopes, plates of (...) (...) I'd prefer these to ball joints, given the choice. The latter are just to weak to support any weight without some extra stiffening, IMO. Now.... I like... everything about it. :) The shape is certainly reflective of its name -- short, stocky and powerful like a gorilla, etc. Is that a cutting/welding torch stowed on the left shoulder? talk about a workhorse! that brute looks like it can do the job and then some! nice change of pace, too--no weapons. i really like the color scheme (red and greay, like my new one) and the reverse knee look: it seems that's what many mech-ers are (...) Here's that mech that I made with the new leg design, Grease Monkey. (URL) Monkey is a working mech. He drags stuff around, loads ammo, does repairs, helps build structures, things like that. I've been playing with power armor ideas for a week or so. What started out as a tongue in cheek attempt at making armor something akin to Bubblegum Crisis, turned into creating a full squad of armored troops. Clearly there are similarities to (...) Hmmm...I agree with most other replies, but my creative process really takes off when I follow this pattern... --I'm not inspired by Japanese Cartoons, though they ARE cool... --I'm not a huge fan of "forward" knees (like on a human), unless (...) Plate Click Hinge, strong, very attachable, very hidable, hole in center good! Technic arm joint (super battle droid, UCS Naboo fighter stand) Also good, not as strong, axle hole and shape of core make a little awkward to use. Liking the plates with (...)
