Well I have some Star Wars and a tiny bit of Space stuff on my site. You might
also check out my Castle section as many of those buildings fit well in a more
modern town.

I also have a modern town that I am working on and I currently have 3 buildings
done althought they are not on my site you can see them here.

As far as suggestions go I don't really know how to help you with Space stuff.
For me Space is more of a feel type thing and I think everyone has their own
style and likes and dislikes. I guess I wouldn't try anything too big first.
Set your sites on something reasonable try and design a fighter or something.
Also remember that this is Space so unless your craft needs atmospheric
capabilities your fighter does not need wings (although they might look cool).
In terms of modern buildings I suggest studying buildings around you or
pictures of modern buildings. That is what I do although I don't model
specific buildings I do end up using ideas from real life. Also try some color
combinations that you might not have otherwise thought of in your buildings you
might be suprised at what you find looks good.
Good luck and happy building,
