I've seen your model before. I must congratulate you on a job well done.
I've thought about using pneumatics, but placing the cylinders so that I can
get a full 90 degrees or more of movement has escaped me. I look forward to
seeing your pictures. Maybe by then I will have some more ideas. :-)

It's a bit off-topic, but for extending the range of motion past 90
degrees, you might want to look at my excavator model. There are basically
three kinds of pneumatic linkages illustrated, and I think the ones you
want to look at closely are the bucket and elbow linkages....
