Re: What TLG set "revolutionized" your building?

(...) From what I remember of my youth, the discovery of the headlight brick was probably what made me understand and memorize brick geometry; in particular the fact that you could have a rotated (nobody said "SNOT" at the time) 1x1 brick between (...)   Re: What TLG set "revolutionized" your building?

(...) Oh, yes. BrickLink is the single thing that has most changed my approach to and understanding of the hobby, followed by the rest of the online AFOL community. And being a grown up with a job and a debit card has helped too... (18 years ago, 29-May-07, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: What TLG set "revolutionized" your building?

(...) Since we're reaching beyond the original question, I'd like to offer that my building habits were greatly transformed by my discovery of (URL) this set> back in 1993. Scoff, you purists, but prior to encountering the 9701 I'd never even seen a (...) (18 years ago, 29-May-07, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: What TLG set "revolutionized" your building?

(...) Cafe Corner is great. I have been making buildings with angled sides for years, but never used the techniques used in Cafe Corner. So it was nice to see a new approach. But, for me, it is more the parts that inspire me. I love looking at a new (...) (18 years ago, 29-May-07, to lugnet.build)

Re: What TLG set "revolutionized" your building?

(...) I'd have to agree in part with John. Having PAB has been a big help (Along with the Great Wall of Bricks at the LEGO stores). Bricklink has also been a help with filling in missing parts, etc. But the biggest things to help kick my building up (...) (18 years ago, 29-May-07, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: What TLG set "revolutionized" your building?

(...) This isn't the kind of answer for which you were seeking, but for me it was the advent of Brickbay (now Bricklink). That has done more to allow me to build whatever I wish then any particular LEGO set. I would also say that Pick-a-Brick has (...) (18 years ago, 29-May-07, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: What TLG set "revolutionized" your building?

(...) First it was these two sets for me: [LEGOSet 4421] [LEGOSet 68611] (...) Then these: [LEGOSet 6989] [LEGOSet 6941] (...) Later these helped me: [LEGOSet 8425] [LEGOSet 8880] [LEGOSet 8485] -snip- (...) All of those inspired me or helped me to (...) (18 years ago, 29-May-07, to lugnet.build, FTX)

What TLG set "revolutionized" your building?

Many of the folks here have long surpassed the techniques used in TLG sets, and the pictures that folks post here are the most inspiring things I've ever seen, but as it relates to "Official" sets, What LEGO set: ...made you approach building (...) (18 years ago, 29-May-07, to lugnet.build)

Re: Big Bricks - 600% Scale

(...) I had seen that space buggy before. I did most of the parts for the 6x one, then Ed Diment turned up with two wheelsets, so it was an obvious match. I've seen someone do some lovely 3x classic space ships. Phil Traviss has a 4x size 928 Space (...) (18 years ago, 29-May-07, to lugnet.build, FTX)

Re: Big Bricks - 600% Scale

Re: Big Bricks - 600% Scale

(...) Although commendable, I wouldn't say it was unique. All the bricks in this picture (including the space buggy) are 6x, except for the Fire Chief's car, which is 10x: (URL) also work better if the top surface is one plate thick with tiles on (...)   Re: Big Bricks - 600% Scale

That is so cool! When I saw the first couple of pictures, they brought a simple grin of happiness to my face. Then when I saw that you'd taken the time to make the tubes and cross supports underneath, my jaw dropped. Simple idea, yet very unique! (...) (18 years ago, 26-May-07, to lugnet.build, FTX)

  Re: Mosaic Homework Help?

(...) Thank you so much! I had tried saving the image, but I hadn't thought to copy it. That worked like a charm!! Thanks, too, for taking the time to create the image with the gridlines. That will really make it easier for him to assemble the (...) (18 years ago, 16-May-07, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Mosaic Homework Help?

(...) Hm. It sounds like your browser is trying to reload the image for printing, and is coming up against the fact that Lugnet is trying to prevent a lot of server load by regenerating mosaics. Which browser are you using? One way to do it is sort (...) (18 years ago, 16-May-07, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Mosaic Homework Help?

(...) I've just retried it. It is still not working for me and I am fully aware that it is likely user error and/or my computer settings. I was able to print your link just fine, but I can't print my photo. Printing from 'file' menu prints the (...) (18 years ago, 16-May-07, to lugnet.build)

  Mosaic Homework Help?

My 3rd grade son is struggling through an enormous biography project at school and next week he will have to do a presentation! I thought having a mosaic of his subject would be an impressive display and hopefully an ego boost for him. I'm having a (...) (18 years ago, 16-May-07, to lugnet.build)
