I had seen that space buggy before. I did most of the parts for the 6x one,
then Ed Diment turned up with two wheelsets, so it was an obvious match.
Ive seen someone do some lovely 3x classic space ships. Phil Traviss has a 4x
size 928 Space Cruiser display model. Ive also got pictures of a 10x surfer
buggy and me standing next to a 6x Creator Tyrannosaur both built by LEGO. None
of these use separate bricks though.
6x is an interesting one, as the 4x studs are slightly bigger than scale. That
means some tricky extra notches around the headlight bricks, for example. But,
its small enough that its worth tiling the smooth upper surfaces rather than
leaving all studs. Unfortunately you cant tile the round giant studs
themselves if you use macaronis.
Slopes are a problem too. If you leave a 1-bricks high step at the bottom, you
end up with one stud too many at the top of the slope. If you dont leave that
step, you cant stack it on a 4x4 stud.
