Although commendable, I wouldnt say it was unique. All the bricks in this
picture (including the space buggy) are 6x, except for the Fire Chiefs car,
which is 10x:

They also work better if the top surface is one plate thick with tiles on top.
This allows some clearance over the studs on top of the round giant stud of
the brick below. A single 1x1 round plate inside, in the centre of each stud
position, gives a good grip.
