This is Where I Build
• My building area is made from:
The furniture consists of two home-made desks with shelves. The main desk
surface is a 4' x 8' foot sheet of 3/4" plywood (plenty of space!).
• The total area of my building area is:
My "LEGO room" is 10' x 10'. It also has a small closet. It's all available
for building ;-) Although most building takes place on the 4' x 8' desk.
Even with 4x8 available, I'd bet most of my building takes place in an area
less than 2' x 3'. That leaves quite a bit of space on the desk to store my
boxes of parts.
• Total number of bricks at arms length:
I may have to bend over or stand up at my chair, but I can reach all 35,000
(approx.) of them.
• Neatest thing about my building area:
It's mine! It's all mine!
Seriously, I think the neatest thing is just having one complete room (with
a door and window) that's totally at my disposal. After years of building on
the floor, in my lap, at the dinner table, on my bed, etc., I really
appreciate an entire room to myself.
A neat feature I added to the desk is a furring strip with rounded edges
(screwed to the edge of the desk). I left about an inch sticking up above
the desk surface. It keeps my parts and parts boxes from sliding off, and
it's quite easy to work over (i.e. doesn't hurt my arms).
• Worst thing(s) about my building area:
- I don't get to spend enough time in it!
- Yes, cat hair is a problem, but it's also all over the rest of the house :-)
- I don't have enough room to leave a decent train layout set up.
- It's destined to be the nursery once my wife and I have kids. I don't know
where I'll build then.

• Extra Notes:
- It's quiet
- Almost everything is sorted in boxes with pull-out bins
- The bathroom is next to it ;-)
- I have a stereo
- I can usually get away with displaying sets and MOCs elswhere in the house
so they don't crowd the "LEGO room"

| I did some searches and couldn't really find anything of this type having been previously done on LUGNET, so here goes: We've all seen the existing roll call forms. There are those for generic LEGO fans, for space fans, castle etc. Here's one with a (...) (22 years ago, 20-Nov-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)
