Oh goodness.  This should be interesting.

This is Where I Build

An introduction to the Lego Dungeon (aka the Lego Lair, aka my domain).  I
recently refurbished my basement to become my ideal Lego building
environment.  The entire procedure took quite a while, and it's all
chronicled on brickfrenzy.com.

My building area is made from:

My primary build surface is made up of two 6 foot long white tables from
Sam's Club laid out in an L shape.  One of the tables is against a wall and
has bins and containers stacked above and below it.  The other sticks out
into the center of the room and is my primary build table.  I sit facing the
main table.  Behind me is a series of shelves that hold all of my sorted
bricks, except for the basic ones, which reside in a corner of the room on
other shelves.  From this vantage point I can easily see the TV sitting
across the room, as well as the computer, where I watch DVD's.

The total area of my building area is:

I have an entire table, 6 feet long by 30 inches wide available for
building, as well as the half of the other table (6 feet by 16 inches) that
isn't covered with bins.

Total number of bricks at arms length:

Not as many as I'd like.  I have to stand up to reach most of them.  But the
bulk of the pieces are withing a 5 foot radius of the chair.

Neatest thing about my building area:

I designed the area from scratch to be the perfect build center.  half my
bricks (and all the specialized ones) are within arms reach, and I have
plenty of space to stash everything else.  Plus the carpeting is really
really cool looking!

Worst thing about my building area:

Despite the fact that the entire area is about 400 square feet, it's laid
out such that only one person could feasibly have access to all the pieces,
so group building is difficult.

Extra Notes:

I was given almost carte-blanche to do whatever I wanted to the basement to
give me exactly what I needed for my building, so this area is almost ideal.
Everyone should have a spouse as understanding as my wife.

I did some searches and couldn't really find anything of this type having been previously done on LUGNET, so here goes: We've all seen the existing roll call forms. There are those for generic LEGO fans, for space fans, castle etc. Here's one with a (...) (22 years ago, 20-Nov-02, to lugnet.build, lugnet.general)
