Another idea, which I was implementing on my large station project when
i packed it away <sniff> is to use technic pin/bricks to hold building
sections together. While this wiggles when the surface abutting is small
(c.f. Deep Freeze Defender and the current Tie Fighter) it is very solid
if the surface is large. 3 pins (such as on the 2x2 with technic pin
brick) across a 20 stud long by3 brick high subfoundation made a very
very sturdy connection.
