  Re: SpiderWalker rides again!

(...) It's not often I can call a Lego scene creepy. -- Terry K -- (26 years ago, 4-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

  Re: SpiderWalker rides again!

(...) todd.. you are an *extremely* creative (and sick) individual and i one day hope to have your level of imagination (and obvious free time) and your talent (or should i say "sociopathic tendancies"??? hehe!) J (26 years ago, 4-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

  SpiderWalker rides again!

Remember that icky creepy crawly SpiderWalker model a couple years ago? (URL) a new picture of it -- at night: (URL) instructions in LDraw MPD format: (URL) (26 years ago, 4-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets

(...) Good answer, but not the one I was looking for. :-) What I meant to ask is: do the current cones need to get the same/similar fix as the 1x1 cone? -- Terry K -- (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

Re: Flattened Primitives (was Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets)

(...) I doubt it's laziness, since a default insertion has a 1 in the yy column. There was talk in the primitives group about using the discs and rings for cones. Since we would have to go through and "fix" any parts which put a 1 in the yy column, (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

  Re: touch/light sensors from S@H

(...) I just called S@H, and got the prices: Touch sensor: $11.00 Light sensor: $22.00 Angle sensor: $16.50 Temperature sensor: $16.50 The angle and temp sensors are not yet available. I wonder if their prices are not yet finalized. Steve (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

Re: Flattened Primitives (was Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets)

(...) That is wrong? Gee, I had no idea. I've used lines like that a lot, because I've seen them used in other part files, and they seemed to be more elegant than "1 16 x y z 10 0 0 0 1 0 0 0 10 4-4disc.dat" when the primitive is flat in y-direction (...)   RE: Flattened Primitives (was Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets)

(...) I agree. (...) It's not that simple. Together with the POV substitution string I also have other data like the BoundingBox of the primitive, which is used e.g. in the automatic camera positioning. I think it is troublesome to have this kind of (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad.dev, lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

Flattened Primitives (was Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets)

[Cross-posted to original newsgroups, and lugnet.cad.dev. Followup-To set to lugnet.cad.dev] (...) It's probably easier to make high-quality parts in LGEO, but it should be possible to make them in LDraw, run them through L3P, and get equivalent (...)   Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets

(...) I checked this part with L3P this morning. What I got was: (...) I can't find an error in these lines, except they zero out the y component to turn a conic into a ring. Does POV-Ray not work with this type of transformation matrix? (or: did I (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

  Re: Large Technic crane

(...) Sounds like a good idea, yes. In fact, it is already used in Ralph Muha's camcarts at: (URL) is a site worth viewing! And if you're into Technic LEGO, you may want to look at the rest of my site, at (URL) are mostly Technic vehicles there. I (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

RE: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets

(...) All 3 cone primitives (4-4con12.dat, 1-4con3.dat, 1-4con4.dat) have POV equivalents in L3P. Unfortunately the 1-4 cones are clipped by a too small box, {<0,-1,0>,<2,2,2>} rather than {<0,-1,0>,<6,2,6>}. I plan on a release 1.2 in the very near (...)   Re: Incorporating Throwbots Elements?

We received a flyer in the mail from Learning Express* yesterday that mentioned that LEGO is sponsoring a Throwbots building contest - details are on the LEGO web site (supposedly). Anyone checked this out yet? I would do it now but since I am (...) (26 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Large Technic crane

(...) Great idea John. Minneapolis is a sea of construction cranes right now, and I have been watching them work once in a while. There are several brands of cranes that do exactly this, they move counterweights in and out in syncronization with (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets

(...) Okey-doke. (...) The problem is with the primitive being used. I used the 1-4con3.dat file, the translation of which is improperly written by L3P. Presumably, any part using this primitive will render incorrectly. Currently, there's only one: (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

  Re: Belville and Scala

Let me amend that..."invest" sounds so mercenary. Actually, we are creating a Belville beach scene and a Scala mansion, and can use all of these specialty pieces on which we can get our brick building fingers :-) (...) (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.market.buy-sell-trade, lugnet.build)

Re: 1x1 and 2x2 chess sets

(...) Affirmative to both. Though, to be safe, you might want to prod my memory when the time comes. Question, do the other cones have that problem? -- Terry K -- (26 years ago, 3-Mar-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

  Re: Large Technic crane

(...) I finally got to see the page . Great work! As I was sorting Some new sets to day I thought about the Balance of the crane . Is there a way you could let hte counter weight on the beam move in and out either same as the car/grab. or maybe even (...) (26 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: Incorporating Throwbots Elements?

(...) Well, it does look like (I don't have any Slizers, yet) one can connect Technic friction pegs to the "legs with two ball joints". Besides, one can connect Technic axles to the hips. So to me it looks like the Throw Bots elements are pretty (...) (26 years ago, 2-Mar-99, to lugnet.build)
