Re: New Service Packs for 1999..

(...) I just thought of these. They are great to make rounded corners, but the structural soundness of the model is less than with overlapping 1x2's. They should make a 1x2 with a rounded-off end, sort of like a 1x1 with half of a 'macaroni' (...) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: SEV2

(...) been trying deal with that problem for a while. Hey! Your tank is asymmetric! Well, not exactly. It's more like the studs on the main flat surface aren't aligned normal to the fore-aft axis, right? Steve (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

  Re: SEV2

(...) I'll second that. In fact, I'd have to say it's one of the coolest space-type models I've seen. I'd love to see an animation. :) (26 years ago, 26-Jan-99, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.build)

  SEV2

Come check out (and download the .dat file) of the new hovertank at my site. It's the latest from Peregrin-Westar Intergalactic. -Tom McD. (URL) (26 years ago, 25-Jan-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.cad)

  Re: Gothic tracery idea

(...) Will a 1x4/1x2 bracket, frequently used as foundations for front/rear bumpers in town vehicles work? Gary GaryLouie@EarthLink.Net (26 years ago, 23-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: four legged walker

(...) Do you mean simple steering, or something ever more advanced? You can probably achieve steering by articulating the body, between the two pairs of legs. Fredrik (26 years ago, 7-Nov-98, to lugnet.build)

  four legged walker

has anyone made a four legged walker that can walk round corners yet? I have been experimenting with my cats, to see how they do it, but is looks incredibly compex. I even had my girlfriend wallking up and down the floor, to see how two legged (...) (26 years ago, 6-Nov-98, to lugnet.build)

  Gothic tracery idea

Hi all, Last week I was thinking about ways to get convincing Gothic tracery without making a huge window. I hit upon the idea to rotate the wall plane 90 degrees and then use 1xn plates to create the tracery. The idea worked out very well, but it (...) (26 years ago, 22-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: new shock absorber part?

(...) Yes, 2 softer ones and this 1 stiffer type. (...) I don't quite remember how 8858 was different. The 8865 system would make sense, as it will allow for any large-enough-diameter tire, rather than the 8880 specialty - which is of course not (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: new shock absorber part?

(...) Yep! But the other shock cylinders in the set, are they of the softer kind? So there's two kinds of shock suspenders in the set? (...) No, there is one in the 8417 set as well. (URL) also looks like the 8448, which is due this year, has the (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  new shock absorber part?

In 8428/32 (Cool Car/Turbo Command) there is a single small shock absorber in the suspension-lowering 'toggle switch' mechanism. Its grey part is actually dark grey, and the spring has fewer windings (~4 instead of ~6) and is much stiffer. Is this (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Reason 5H bricks are good

(...) I could see that. Also, the smoothness of the 5H bricks (fewer inter-brick lines) would increase the asthetic appeal of skyscraper models. My big problem with 5H bricks is when they give the illusion of solid construction. Without adequate (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Reason 5H bricks are good

(...) Yes. (...) I've often thought that those taller bricks would be cool to use in big structures, like some of the big skyscraper/office building types. That, IMO, neither limits creativity nor violates integrity (or purism). It only does so when (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) Completely agreed. Absolutely incredible. Next question - any guesses as to *how much* Lego this gentleman has to work with? I'm not a castle- head, so I couldn't begin to guess... -Tim (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) Yeah, it has a suspension bridge and a railroad bridge, both of which have towers made to look like Castle turrets. Very Cool! When I get home, I'll hafta look for the guide book I bought When I was there a couple years ago. :) Jeff (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Robert G. Carney, Jr.'s castles!

(...) I too like Conwy better. Isn't it the one with the suspension bridge very close by. Everytime I see Caernarvon Castle, I think of Prince Charles 1969 investiture, where Queen Elizabeth II had a "bad fashion day". (No offense to the Windsors, (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)

  Reason 5H bricks are good

I found an application where two 1x2x5 bricks worked much better than 5 1x4 bricks. I was building a framework with Technic beams (basically the same thing I posted to lugnet.cad.dat the other day). I was inserting stacks of 1x4 bricks between the (...) (26 years ago, 19-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)
