new shock absorber part?

In 8428/32 (Cool Car/Turbo Command) there is a single
small shock absorber in the suspension-lowering
'toggle switch' mechanism. Its grey part is actually
dark grey, and the spring has fewer windings (~4 instead of ~6)
and is much stiffer.
Is this the first/only occurrence of this part?

| (...) Yep! But the other shock cylinders in the set, are they of the softer kind? So there's two kinds of shock suspenders in the set? (...) No, there is one in the 8417 set as well. (URL) also looks like the 8448, which is due this year, has the (...) (26 years ago, 20-Jan-99, to lugnet.build)
