  Re: All black 5542

What I think is coolest about this is that the 5542 is really "correct minifig scale" rather than the usual tiny toy choppers the figs are stuck using... I may convert to 8 wide trains yet. (naaaa...) (25 years ago, 14-Nov-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.publish, lugnet.modelteam)

Re: I'm Through Coloring Inside the Lines for Awhile...

(...) I've built the shuttle twice. But I spend about 2hrs sorting peices beforehand (I've never mixed it with the rest of the collection) and maybe 8hrs building. And yes those fiddly little black bits get me every time. James from Oz (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)

  5542????

Now I'm in trouble. Up til now I never thought of the Model Team Black Thunder being used with the minifigs......the wife will never understand the need to get more legos. And I just had her convinced that the new Star Wars and Arctic was all I was (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)

  Re: All black 5542

Dang, now I'm going to have to buy another 5542, and dig out my black train windows ;-) How about closeups of the minigun? Is the minifig holding it, or is it mounted? It looks neat, I'm trying to think up different ways to swivelmount it with what (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.publish, lugnet.modelteam)

(...) Oh, man... Kevin, you have a twisted imagination, and I applaud you for it! This is one of the most fantastic LEGO scenes I've seen forever! Kudos! -Cheese (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.publish, lugnet.modelteam)

Re: I'm Through Coloring Inside the Lines for Awhile...

I think 14 hours is typical build time for the Technic Space Shuttle. I actually was disappointed when it was finished, because I was having so much fun building it. The "Aha!" moments were wonderful! I intentionally took time to savor every step. (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: I'm Through Coloring Inside the Lines for Awhile...

I, too, buy LEGO sets for the parts, but I normally build the main model anyway. If it's a small model, I try to build it without looking at the instructions. When the model is built, I tear it down again almost immediately and sort the pieces into (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)

  All black 5542

The first time I built the Model Team 5542 Black Thunder I substituted black bricks for all non black bricks in the set. It looked real nice, but it just sat on the shelf for a year. I just dusted it off and created a scene where it might fit in: (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build, lugnet.publish, lugnet.modelteam)

(...) display. Every so often, I may move them around, or take them apart for "storage", but I haven't built a model from scratch since I was 10 or so (I'm 22 now). Unfortunately, I don't have much of anything resembling an imagination. I just like (...) (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)

Vague Lousy Page is Finally Up...dated

(...) Thanks for the kind words (and the nightmares). There's much more up now--more captions, better attributions, and a dozen new .jpgs-- check it out, feedback welcome (besides "get a colour scanner" ;) ). LFB. (25 years ago, 13-Nov-99, to lugnet.boats, lugnet.build)

I'm Through Coloring Inside the Lines for Awhile...

I'm the first to admit that I buy LEGO sets just for the parts. I never actually build the model in the instruction booklet. Until a recent post by Ralph Hempel about the 8226 Mud Masher that sent me on a bit of a building rampage. The Mud Masher (...) (25 years ago, 12-Nov-99, to lugnet.build)
