Re: RCX Controlled Air Compressor Tester

(...) Actually, I've been thinking about this for awhile, and I think there's an "easy" way to switch pneumatics under motor control. The rubber air hoses can be pinched shut with a reasonably small amount of force. It seems to me that you could use (...) (25 years ago, 29-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

Re: Does anyone have the 8479 bar code truck?

(...) The clutch gear is the same basic size as a normal 24-tooth gear, but the center (where the axle passes through) can spin freely if there is too much force holding the gear in place. I believe the gear says right on it that it will stall (...) (25 years ago, 29-Sep-99, to lugnet.build)

Re: Does anyone have the 8479 bar code truck?

(...) I have not seen what this clutch gear can do. Does anyone care to describe what makes it great to have? It has 24 teeth just like other gears, but what does the "clutch" part mean (apart from what a clutch means like in a car). Also, how are (...) (25 years ago, 29-Sep-99, to lugnet.build)

  Compressors, Valves, and Other Wishes

(...) Yes, this is still a difficult problem. The best solution I've seen is Linc's micro motor controlled valve at: Hmm, it seems to have moved again... now at: (URL) have built this valve control, but find the action between the gear and worm gear (...)   RE: RCX Controlled Air Compressor Tester

I don't have the parts, or I'd try it myself.... But can a full radial engine design (say 5 pumps) compressor be far behind? It begs the question: What are we going to do with this great volume of compressed air.... Jet robots? ;>) Jeff (...) (25 years ago, 29-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

Re: RCX Controlled Air Compressor Tester

Hello Ralph... I have built your original compressor from the photos you provide. I really like its form, rigidity and functionality. A great design. I plan to modify mine tonight into a full stroke design as some have suggested. All you need do is (...) (25 years ago, 29-Sep-99, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.build)

Re: RCX Controlled Air Compressor Tester

Why is this two stage? I could not follow this design clearly but are you feeding the output of one stage to the input of the next? Two compressor pistons in parallel is something else (double acting?? I am not sure what)... Cool design no mater (...)   Re: RCX Controlled Air Compressor Tester

(...) Hi Chio Thats a pretty interesting design. Nice work! (URL) Here is a link to some pictures of the two stage compressor I built. Hopefully there are enough details shown to reconstruct it but if you have any questions let me know. The actual (...)
