It's time to party at the Moonbase —Adrian Drake
Everyone at the Moonbase has to go somewhere to relax and party, right? The genesis of this project was at Brickswest 2003, where Derek Schin and I were hanging out at the Maniac shop, messing around with the parts bins. There were a bunch of those (...)         Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Todd Lehman
(...) ...WOOOWOWWWWWW! That's beautiful!!! Duuuuddddeee! At first glance, I thought it was ray-traced with MegaPOV because of the trans-green. But you actually used trans-green that way! All right! --Todd (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Adrian Drake
(...) It used to be that saying that a raytraced image looks real was a great compliment. Now, with the quality of raytracing these days, the opposite is true. You should get that dislocated jaw looked at :) Thanks Adrian -- (URL) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Andrew Saada
In lugnet.announce.moc, Adrian Drake writes: [snip] (...) Moonbase. The architecture is strong and crisp...those technic pieces work so well there. The structure definitely also fits a "laboratory." I particularly like the design and placement of (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Adrian Drake
(...) It's not a club without a good sound system, right? Unfortunately, they point right down the moonbase corridors, so you can imagine what the noise was like for the neighbors before the sound shields were put up :) The architectural concept for (...)         Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Allister McLaren
Boy, you've really raised the bar on this one Adrian. This takes the moonbase beyond mere Lego models into pure Art. In a way I miss all the external activity you've put in your other modules, but in this one they'd only distract me from the pure (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Adrian Drake
(...) Because the outside was left relatively clean, I packed the inside with as much detail as I could. So the detail's all there, still. As for the roof, the frame is attached above each window with a 1x2 technic axle. I can remove some or all of (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Derek Schin
(...) The green and black compliment the trans-green nicely. And the club idea is perfect, as well. I can't wait to see it in person someday! Derek (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Adrian Drake
(...) Thanks. I really liked the way the color scheme worked out. I figured the best way to emphasize the green glass was to pick some nice complimentary colors and go light on the details. I guess it worked. Thanks for helping with the inspiration, (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Tony Knaak
(...) not top that. I seriously got the 'bug-willies' and screamed some profanity at my monitor when the first pic loaded. The structure reminds of crazy sphere building like the Epcot Center and I bet using the physics from this someone could (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Adrian Drake
(...) It's not about topping the next cool MOC that comes around, it's about building something that you're happy with. (...) That would be quite a trick. The geometry of Lego technic, at least the new pieces, is pretty limited. Now if you used the (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Allister McLaren
(...) Actually the teeth on those parts are set in 15° increments, so they work basically the same as the new ones, but don't look as cool and are more fiddly to work with and require more parts per joint. Just thought I'd mention that before anyone (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

(...) Hahaha! Only if fbtb and theforce.net link to me. Don't think the casual Star Wars fan has that much interest in Moonbase stuff, though. Thanks anyway :) Adrian -- (URL) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Adrian Drake
(...) I was hoping somebody would notice all that :) Jango Fett is actually chatting with a couple of his own clones. I wonder how he feels about talking to himself. There are also a couple of Ewoks buried in the crowd. I wonder, though, where all (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —John P. Henderson
(...) Actually, I've had an idea for a residential habitat Module. Unfortunately, I have been quite strapped for spare time lately. Of course, if someone else wants to build residential Modules first, I see no problem with that. If the Moonbase is a (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Gil Shaw
Just how freaking cool is that?!?! Oh man, I can't believe you came up with that design. Well, OK maybe I can...but it still is firmly in the can't-be-done-yet-it-is category. That is so wild...it perfectly captures the nightclub scene. I take it DJ (...) (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Bruce Hietbrink
Adrian, That's just freakin' cool. How solid is the roof when you take it off? how are those black 2x2 tiles suspended between the trans green octagonal elements? Bruce (22 years ago, 4-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Adrian Drake
(...) The roof is very solid. I typically grab it by one of the technic beams right in the center when I'm pulling it off, and hold it by just that. The windows, on the other hand...         Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Jeff Jardine

It's the exact opposite of the nightclubs around here - they look like sweaty bars on the outside but the occupants look like products of an alien (...) (22 years ago, 6-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)

Re: It's time to party at the Moonbase —Adrian Drake
(...) Maybe it was an alien hatchery before it was converted to a nightclub. Research Lab is awfully nebulous sounding. I hope all the chemicals were cleaned out of the drinking water ;) Thanks Adrian -- (URL) (22 years ago, 6-Mar-03, to lugnet.space)
