New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Bram Lambrecht
When I was discussing the Alphabet Project with Jon Palmer a few months back, this is what popped into my mind for an O-Wing. Anyway, this took about 6-7 hours to build on Saturday. The ring required a few revisions in order to increase strength and (...) (22 years ago, 27-May-02, to lugnet.announce.moc, lugnet.space, lugnet.build, lugnet.starwars) !!

Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Travis Dickinson
Cool design. Good color scheme. Great detailing. I'm sure some one will give more wordy praise. (...) (22 years ago, 27-May-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Ralph Döring
This reminds me of a movie I have seen recently... ;) Now I know what to do with all the Star Wars hinges. Praise: excellent modell with great functionality. I vote for next MOC set by TLC (if you are willing to sell your copyrights). Criticisms: (...) (22 years ago, 27-May-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Bram Lambrecht
(...) I haven't seen EpII yet...so if there's some similarity, it's a coincidence. Perhaps I should go to get some space inspiration... (...) The click hinges alone were not stiff enough to hold the circular shape (at least not stiff enough for my (...) (22 years ago, 27-May-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Jeff Findley
(...) LEGO Set 7143, Jedi Starfighter, appears in EpII with a "light speed" ring so it can travel long distances. When preparing for battle, it separates from the ring and leaves it to drift. Yor design is similar, yet has more features. The Jedi (...) (22 years ago, 28-May-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Gil Shaw
Bram, It took me ages to work out the small and simple ring in my Sol clipper....if the time from concept to completion was only 7 hours, I salute you....incredible stuff. It took me a minute to realize that the centre unit travelled the inner (...) (22 years ago, 27-May-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Well, I guess I build faster than some people, but it doesn't feel that fast to me :) (...) Thanks! I'm glad I got that feature to work...makes the ship much more interesting. I usually try to add some kind of moving feature to my designs. (...) (22 years ago, 27-May-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —John Henry Kruer
(...) That's really nice! The rotating cocpit is really intersting. I know I'm going to be designing an O-wing ship soon. Question: how does the pilot get out? Does the ship land on its ring? John Kruer (22 years ago, 27-May-02, to lugnet.space)

RE: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Bram Lambrecht
(...) Thanks! (...) Yes. The pilot has to duck/limbo/roll under the edge of the ring to get out. Here's a picture of the ship on the ground with the cockpit open: (URL) pilot is standing on the little winglet in front of the canopy.) Behind the (...)         Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Franklin W. Cain
Bram, Beautiful! I love the mechanism enabling rotation! This reminds me of the 400-ton Lab Ship from the classic Traveller RPG. Franklin (22 years ago, 27-May-02, to lugnet.space)

Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Lindsay Frederick Braun

Re: New MOC: Gyroscopic Fighter —Jon Palmer
I thought this was elegant and cool when I saw it. When I saw that the center rotated around on wheels and shocks I thought it was really cool. Then I noticed it even spun flat for landings. Really really cool. :-) Well done. -Jon -- | The Shipyard (...) (22 years ago, 30-May-02, to lugnet.space)
