Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) Do tell. Seriously, what makes you think that? ++Lar (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Proposal: remove lugnet.dear-lego, or clarify its purpose

(...) I agree. The landscape has changed since .dear-lego was created. I heartily invite you to share your thoughts on this thread which touches on that very subject: (URL) seems likely to me that .dear-lego isn't needed anymore as it just creates (...)   Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) Given the suddenness of it, I think I might be too and, actually, I wrote Brad Justus a personal apology for not having given him and his people a heads-up. (...) I agree with you. Hang in there, things will look up soon. --Todd (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

  Re: ME TOO

I've been skimming the posts about this issue, and maybe I'm missing the point, but it seems to me that if LEGO didn't want its people posting on lugnet, they woud take care of that at lego. Often you hear about people workgin at such-and-such and (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't seem like that big a deal to change your e-mail address back and forth to indicate official vs personal. It's just as easy to do that as to include a disclaimer when posting personal items. But, truthfully, I (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) But, they are different than most. Their work life and home life (assuming they are AFOLs) coincide. I guess I've been on the other side. In the last two jobs I've had, one of my employeement conditions was that I not use my work e-mail in (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) I don't think anyone has any issues with the desire to be clear about whether a post is personal opinion or an Offical Statement. But that can easily be done without restricting where posting happens, and in fact WAS being done, the T&C (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) If you want to write a letter to TLC that they can read and respond to, why would you do it on LUGNET? Why not go to (URL) and do it there? Isn't that what that site is for? Why should LUGNET provide time, space, hardware, bandwidth, etc. to (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) To further your own analogy: Why don't you use your work e-mail here? Probably because LUGNET is part of your "home life" and not your "work life". Your employeer may (or may not) want their name associated with LUGNET. Your employeer may even (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.lego.direct, lugnet.admin.nntp)

Proposal: remove lugnet.dear-lego, or clarify its purpose

I know there is a distinction between the dear-lego and lego.direct groups, but that distinction is a fine one, and it's probably something that a lot of people are confused by. The dear-lego group would have made a lot of sense when TLC wasn't (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: New Group Proposal - LUGNET.LEGO.QA

(...) I agree Eric. Recently I put a post about the lack of Blue 1 x 6 and 1 x 8 bricks available from Bulk sales at S@H, and some AFOL took the opportunity to promote his Brickbay page. I just hope that LEGO realizes I cannot order from this (...) (24 years ago, 17-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: New Group Proposal - LUGNET.LEGO.QA

(...) Well it may have been intended that way at the begining but it definitely isn't that right now. I think if Todd implements the restrictions he mentioned here: (URL) there may not be a need for the group. Right now though .lego.direct seems to (...)   Re: New Group Proposal - LUGNET.LEGO.QA

(...) I agree with Lorbaat's observation that this looks more like Quality Assurance than Questions & Answers. However, given the ratio of questions to answers we typically find in lugnet.lego.direct, I think we can safely call it (...) (24 years ago, 16-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) But since when has there been a ban on "marketing" posts in theme groups? Note that the post in question does not advertise any buying, selling, trading, or auctions--which are the activities typically prohibited from theme groups. The item (...)   Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

(...) I use NNTP at school, in fact, I have Outlook Newsreader open now, but something never works right so it downloads new headers automagically. At school it works, but I'm at home now and it doesn't. Anyways, that shows you that I'm lazier. :-) (...) (24 years ago, 16-Mar-01, to lugnet.admin.nntp)

Re: Official vs. unofficial LEGO postings

That actually is one of the things which keeps me using NNTP - Netscape doesn't give up the ghost and stop threading when the thread reaches some (...)
