I have installed a filter so that incoming articles with the header:
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
are converted to 8bit encoding. The header is replaced with:
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
X-MIME-Autoconverted: from quoted-printable to 8bit by lugnet.com
and the = and =XX encodings are handled. Long lines are broken at 80
columns except when matching one of the following conditions:
* tabular or columnar data: /\S\t/ or /\S\040{3,}/
* numerical data: /(-?[0-9\.]+ ){6,}/
Applying the filter retroactively resulted in approximately xx,xxx changes.

| LUGNET does not correctly decode quoted-printable messages on the web interface. For example, look at: (URL) the brickshelf URL with the =3D in it. My newsreader displays it correctly, along with the other funny characters shown at the bottom, (...) (22 years ago, 16-May-03, to lugnet.admin.suggestions)
