Re: Who is in charge of what? (not a curator question)

(...) From the top of my head and not meant to be an exhaustive list (I agree that a consolidated list of people/things would be good) There are no moderators per se, because LUGNET is not a moderated system, posts only get cancelled (barring (...)   Unifying LUGNET user types

All, We're going to begin soon unifying the many types of LUGNET users into a single, coherent base system. This will greatly simplify sign-up, configuration, and daily usage, and consequently I think this will make a lot of people very, very happy (...)   Re: Pseudo-streaming live news (was: Re: Monitor Page)

(...) The firewall seems to periodically require re-authentication to get out. But it's not clear what strategy it uses to determine when to re-authenticate. It's not elapsed time since last authentication, or elapsed time since last request. It (...) (25 years ago, 21-Mar-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) Oh? I could easily be wrong-- being a still-starting-out web programmer my browser's cookies are always being rewritten, etc, so I'm not sure. But I thought that there were something like three different cookies that Lugnet can drop you? - (...) (24 years ago, 28-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

In that case, you may as well not bother allowing us to change passwords since we can only change to one just as random and hard to remember, which will also go up on a yellow sticky on the monitor like the current one is... (...) I think you might be onto something there. Ignoring for the moment the issues of someone possibly wanting to change their code word later or needing their memory refreshed, what you're suggesting is quite feasable. (...)   Re: My Stance

(...) Much of the canceling was done by the AUKins and other groups who wanted to try and delete my net history. They would leave in only the parts they wanted. That doesn't sound secure enough. I would suggest that when a user "registers" to use the web interface, their browser should be send a random unique "user ID", and the user ID should also be sent to the email address they registered with. Hi Dave, the average ad works on a pay-per-click scheme, however it is pointless for anyone to just click on several ads in a row - anti click-fraud mechanisms with affiliate programs prevent this from generating cash for LUGNET and will (...)
