  Concerning Prevention of abuses and Authenticated logins
 
Dear Todd, In a recent posting somone mentioned the possiblity of having authenticated logins. I feel that for regualr Lugnet users/posters this might be a very good idea! Potentialy It could actualy save us time as we don't need to enter (...) (24 years ago, 27-Oct-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

Okay, so here's a question. Is it technically possible, and/or feasible to have private, possibly password-protected boards set up? The reason I ask is that my local train club does its internal communications by email, and it is quite a burden on (...) (24 years ago, 29-Nov-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

(...) eh? the only way you can get an id cookie is by putting in the confirmation code, isn't it? Also, if you can cancel messages only by you, and only if you're logged in (have to be a member), that's pretty secure... No way to get the member (...) You forgot one moderating method: Use the password checker, and only accept messages which passes a certain limit of security (or a modified version of the checker, with a specialized dictionary). Todd & All, I was looking into doing some things that LUGNET had to offe,r but I can't seem to remember how to get / change my password to LUGNET. I am a member, so what do I need to do? I am a member, i did not receive any notification when my check arrived at LUGNET H.Q., I did not receive a card listing/stating my password and membership like i have seen.
