Have you seen messages, sometimes several hours old, jumping up the
newsgroup hierarchy in the last day or so? Maybe I'm completely off my
rocker, but I believe I've seen this happen at least three times now, in
different groups and threads, at different tiimes.

Case in point: In response to your message about Fibblesnork, Suzanne, the
reply from Rico "Spyder" Lovelace (http://news.lugnet.com/general/?n=32663)
seems to have jumped several hours, since it was, I believe, the first
response to you seven hours ago.

I haven't seen this, and it doesn't sound probable.  Perhaps Rico's clock
was set incorrectly on his newsreader's machine?  That could confuse the
date display.

I thought that too...but even that, or re-confirming the message via e-mail
(if I'm understanding that right, haven't used it myself...it seems like a
message can be confirmed more than once...I've seen several instances where
someone confirms and posts-thinks they didn't-confirms and posts again...or
*HAVE* I seen that?) would have left a copy in it's proper order of
submission, right? Does the server clock for LUGNET not superceed a poster's
clock, anyway? Being on the web, I'm not sure. I've always posted on LUGNET
time.

Hey now! I see some cancelled messages...OK, I'll assume you know what's
happening after all. I guess I'll post this anyway, now that I have typed
it, just so others will know that they aren't also nuts.

I see one -- which Suzanne posted and cancelled herself and reposted.  Which
do you see?

Even stranger, Todd...the cancelled message from Rico Lovelace is gone
now...it was one above Suz's cancelled message when I first posted last
night. When that cancellation showed up, the repeated message was
posted...many hours later.

<insert Twilight Zone theme music here>

(...) OK, I think I see the confusion now...there are two threads, similar but differrent. Suzanne started a first one and then canceled her message, and then started a new one about a half hour later. So what you saw that looked like it disappeared (...)
