Unless there's evidence of a lot of demand,  my response in your
position would be "Use a newsreader for reading,  and use the web
interface for searching".  Far from ideal,  yes,  but:

  a. It's available now,
  b. It allows people who want the feature to tailor it to their

  c. It doesn't distract you from the vitally-important task of
packing our Auczilla booty  ;-)

* To take an extreme example,  some newsreaders will allow you to
killfile an entire thread if the object of your disaffection posts to
it.  Or you can say "xxx is an obnoxious blowhard,  but really knows
about motors,  so I won't killfile him in .robotics".  Modern
killfiles are a many-spoked wheel that you don't want to reinvent
without a *very* good reason.

Your points are valid. Mostly I was asking to see if it was easy.

However I would posit that the functionality of being able to filter, sort,
omit and in general slice and dice content as you like is very powerful and
does fit the charter. Putting that general functionality in allows
easy "ignore user".

Putting "ignore user" in as a custom thing seems ill advised, better to solve
the general problem. (said without deep knowledge of LUGNET code internal
structure, but with some understanding of LUGNET design based on what Todd has
told me and what is in the plan, and with an understanding of how one
architects software most effectively, which, after all, is my vocation)
