Re: Password checks (was: Re: LUGNET Memberships)

(...) As is mine. Todd has one opinion of where that is. Some people think it is too strict. Some are happy. I wonder if any think it is too lenient? (...) I know it is affecting me. Todd sent me a new password and I set two more that hopefully I (...) (26 years ago, 26-Sep-00, to lugnet.people, lugnet.admin.general)

(...) The BrickShelf uses the cookie returned *and* the ip address that the cookie was issued to for reauthenticate login. Nobody has complained about loosing login yet via multiple proxies (i.e. aol). Also, cookies can be made *much* more difficult (...) (...) Um, yes I know that. It's also possible to generate "human random" dictionaries that speed up brute force of "strong" passwords where users are forced within certain limits.   FAQ group - not on main page

Hi Todd, I was looking the other day on the main lugnet page (www.lugnet.com) and realized there is no direct link to the FAQ group (news.lugnet.com/faq/). Ouch. I mean, people can't ask questions if they don't know where to ask them... Ideally, (...) (26 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Re: Unscheduled reboot

Hi Todd, I wondered why I couldn't access the site... I also just checked the traffic page, and it is showing "all quiet" in all three columns. -Joel (26 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.general)

  Unscheduled reboot

The server was rebooted a few minutes ago in connection with cleaning up some areas of the disk that were overflowing from logs. This didn't affect web or news functionality but was preventing email from coming in or going out. I apologize for the (...) (26 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.announce, lugnet.admin.general)

Re: Any having trouble accessing lugnet.com subdomains?

(...) This probably helps not at all, but FWIW, I'll comment that we've had similar problems with other websites, and yes, even with LUGNET when connecting through Juno (god how I'd kill to not have to use a modem). Anyway, suffice to say that the (...) (26 years ago, 25-Sep-00, to lugnet.admin.general, lugnet.off-topic.geek)

  Re: LUGNET Memberships

If you disable login access as one user from a given IP address, then you effectively disable login access as _all_ users from that IP address, because it would be (...) But maybe (tying threads together) we could have Todd print a bar code that we swiped with our :CueCats to verify it was us (along with a rather easier password that we had to remember) ??   Re: LUGNET Memberships

I've been on a few BBSes, quite a while back now, and believe me, some of the passwords that I came up with were quite alphanumeric, and rather random.
